NorCalBass Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 I am, by trade, a bassist. Which is not to say that I've ever denied my urging to record my own material at home. I chose Yamaha, mainly because they've made some of most well-designed musical gear on the market...in almost every category. My Yamaha 6-string bass (John Patitucci signature model), for example, has what I believe to be the most powerful EQ range of ANY bass on the market. My very first bass amp, in fact (bought in 1987 with per diem savings earned on overseas missions as a 6-year Green Beret veteran), was not only still somehow operable...but even sounding great after 20 years in hellish storage! I thus chose Yamaha's 01V digital mixer as my go-to, mainly as a means to document and record ideas, as I mentioned earlier. Connecting through ADAT cables to my DAW's Hammerfall RME card, I have been collecting and documenting musical ideas in this very fashion since 1997. Perhaps one day I'll upgrade. But for now...why change a good thing given that it performs faithfully? At any rate, and in the meantime, I am learning tons from these forums! Thanks for your expertise and willingness to share!
