Well, you're right there. But if they are targeting dslr users, they've all bought in to the zoom/tascam mini recorders. If this would have come out about the same time I bet the dslr's would have jumped all over it, not saying they won't now... But it's lack of balanced outs/return monitoring doesn't really attract sound mixers, or at least not me.

Yes I'm thinking about getting a Fostex DC R302, just got new info from the Canadian distributor, looks like it does have return monitoring , but 1/8inch unbalanced mic out.

Distributor says it will be avalible late Jan. or early Feb. 2012 for $1099 CAD.

It seems like it would be hard to read that screen outside in direct sunlight.

If Fostex is using the sort of LCD display that actually looks better when hit by direct light, this would be a god thing. Also, this recorder, for it's intended purpose, it seems that having to look at the display often will not be necessary. I think it is designed to mount below a camera so the operator of this recorder will most likely be focusing on other things (like the IMAGE in the viewfinder).
