Angelo Waldron
Looks good! SDHC built in..... I kept saying last year this is what Fostex should do to their new 3 and 4 channel mixers. Will beat the pants off of Beachtek and Juicelink.....and Mix Pre-D.

Angelo Waldron
Oh, ....does somebody else make a 3 channel mixer that records? I would like one.
Michael McQueen
Well, you're right there. But if they are targeting dslr users, they've all bought in to the zoom/tascam mini recorders. If this would have come out about the same time I bet the dslr's would have jumped all over it, not saying they won't now... But it's lack of balanced outs/return monitoring doesn't really attract sound mixers, or at least not me.

José
Where are the Timecode capabilities? Come on now! Sure it may be designated for the DSLR, but being shy from featuring timecode, it could have been complimentary to all cameras!
Tapio
Anyone got any news when this recorder would finally be shipping? I sent an email to Japan (Fostex HQ) but the response was some general PR BS with no valuable information...
Angelo Waldron
Apparently available in UK now: 900 = about $1200USD. I'm expecting US price will be lower. Final build is slightly different from previous pictures. http://www.pinknoise...4448f673cf03b8e See what SD has at NAB?
Guest zzz
It seems like it would be hard to read that screen outside in direct sunlight.
Jeff Wexler
It seems like it would be hard to read that screen outside in direct sunlight. If Fostex is using the sort of LCD display that actually looks better when hit by direct light, this would be a god thing. Also, this recorder, for it's intended purpose, it seems that having to look at the display often will not be necessary. I think it is designed to mount below a camera so the operator of this recorder will most likely be focusing on other things (like the IMAGE in the viewfinder). Michael McQueen
I had a 552 for about a year and of my jobs hired to record, maybe 1 out of 3 requested timecode.
