Conan satirizes the new software

Recommended Posts

Late-night comedy show Conan has taken the unusual step of satirizing Final Cut Pro X. A skit from the latest episode (see below) features members of the show's production team supposedly praising the new video editing suite. The clip itself is badly edited though, with sudden cuts, missing titles, out-of-sync audio and shifting color and lighting.

While the sketch is tongue-in-cheek, it does reflect growing criticism of Pro X amongst professionals. The software is missing some commonly-expected features, such as support for older Final Cut project files, or output to tape, which is used by TV studios. Some of these gaps could be filled in future updates.

I thought it was pretty funny in a good natured way. It makes the points that many of us have been discussing without getting cranky about it. Good for them. Apple's lawyers probably dropped a dime on them about using the shots of the interface w/o permission, so....

So, Apple is not being a "good sport",

nothing new...

If Apple's doing business as Conaco Productions, LLC then yes. That's who filed the copyright claim on the YouTube posting.

O'Brian's company is within it's rights if it tells YouTube to take down it's copyrighted material posted by a third party. Their bit, their ad revenues.

Best regards,

Jim
