Noah Timan
Hi all, Wondering if any of you have real-world experience with and can comment on these DPA lav windscreens: http://www.dpamicrophones.com/en/products.aspx?c=Item&category=143&item=24214 http://www.dpamicrophones.com/en/products.aspx?c=Item&category=143&item=24224 Wondering if they work well for actual wind or if they are just suitable for breath pops and such. The only prefabricated lav windscreen I have ever found to be effective is the one for the Sanken COS-11 -- wondering how these hold up by comparison for the DPAs. Thanks if you can help! BVS
This is what I use http://www.dpamicrophones.com/en/products.aspx?c=item&category=118&item=24223 I use it on my 4071's and under clothing. The others above are pop filters only. BVS
Derek H
BVS, I'm curious how you avoid creating a massive lump under the persons clothing? Thanks, DH This is what I use http://www.dpamicrop...=118&item=24223 I use it on my 4071's and under clothing. The others above are pop filters only. BVS
I don't use it under a T shirt but for many applications its easy in the sternum and breast cavities...and the jammer tends over time to become smaller with extended use...still works better than other options I've tried. Derek H
Thanks BVS, Is this technique mainly to combat clothes noise or wind? I sometimes use Rycote Stickies and Overcovers (installed overcover towards the chest) to deal with clothes/chest hair noise and I find it works pretty well. Seems like your method may be using the same principal. BVS
Its a double edge sword Derek...we all do what it takes to get the sound as clean as possible. I have used Stickies as well..particularly in a clam shell mode to stop noise around the cable/transducer point.
Armin Siegwarth
the good thing about that windjammer: http://www.dpamicrop...=118&item=24223 its smaller than the really big rycote furry which I find to be too big to be visible in picture for TV work. to BVS: Have you compared DPA 4061 with 4071 before buying and how are your experiences? Here I get only 4061 to hear. do the 4071 tend to be a bit more harsh on the top end or tend for more sibilance in female voices?
