Peter Mega
" I'm really curious to know which rental house did this to you but I reckon I know already. " OK, name the name! There's not much point Senator, its an Australian rental house and most of you guys are in the U.S.A or elsewhere in the world. If any Aussies want to chat about it, they're welcome to PM me. Colin Heath
On the topic of giving a free day of a piece of your gear(hop ifb ect). If you are, id suggest on your invoice showing the total amount of what it would cost normally, then discount the item (hop, ifb, ect) on the invoice. So the production manager see's what it cost and that its "normally" extra. This will help secure you for the next time, you can tell them and show them where you stated that they got a deal not a normal rate. Peter Mega
And it may well have been one of 'our sound specialist dealers' as many of the rental houses are the sole distributor of sound equipment brands. Eg Zaxcom is only distributed in Aus by Lemac, probably one of the biggest rental chains down here. This is true. I'm not saying Lemac was the company in Bronson's case but we don't want to feel like we're competing or feel alienated by the companies we buy sound gear from. They need us as much as we need them. Dennis Kersten
I'm not a big fan of wireless hopping to camera on a one man one band day, when also using radio mics in the bag. I have had bad experience of the hop causing interference with the radios. Even when I put the transmitter on my back and the radio's in the front of the bag. Do you guys have same experiences?? If you have proper physical spacing, block separation, and frequency coordination you shouldn't have these problems.
johnpaul215
No problem when the transmitters are properly selected and in different blocks and the bag is put together right. For projects that move around, I love being wireless. If (the wireless budget) is up to me, I would only cable into camera for formal sit down interviews. VASI
I don't see any point for wireless hop when the interview is sit down. Increase the cost for production dramatically.

I have had bad experience of the hop causing interference with the radios. Even when I put the transmitter on my back and the radio's in the front of the bag. It works for me as long as I put a block between them. I run my wireless lavs on Block 19 and the hop(s) on Block 21, and that has always worked fine for me (knock on wood!). I sometimes cheat and use 250mw on the hops, using SMQV's. The other day, I had a 3-camera shoot with tripod cameras where I hard-wired to two cameras and hopped to the third, and it went fine. Not easy to do if it were a run-n-gun situation.

I agree, and that way I can listen to a hardwired return from the camera.
