Mark Andrews
^^ Count me in Andy ^^. I'm fairly new to the industry, been working as a boom op/sound recordist on a lot of low budget shorts over the last year, and currently doing a feature with the man above me. Spent the last couple of weeks lurking in the background here trying to absorb some of the great info. Looking forward to working with more of you guys soon. ~Mark. Nick Jones
Hi, New to purely bag stuff but have been mixing World Service radio for the last three years as well as doing bits of camera and sound work for tv for the last 8 or 9 years combined with a load of radio work too. Decided to grab the redundancy money and take a new route in life. Based in Southampton and excited about a future in the great outdoors (I've been sat in windowless studios too long!). All tips, pointers, advice and guidance welcome. Nick.
Ayip12
Just curious, are Lectrosonics block 20, 25 and 26 good in London?
Malcolm Davies Amps CAS
Just curious, are Lectrosonics block 20, 25 and 26 good in London? It would appear that the only US block good for the UK is 23. You would also need to be licenced. contact www.jfmg.co.uk who issue the licences. Malcolm Davies. A.m.p.s. badger
Hi Bit late to this topic. Better late than never. I'm Alex Bryce (AMPS), based in West London, until a couple of years ago I worked in sound post. Am currently trying to break into the location recording world having attended the location recording Course at the NFTS. Nice to make your acquaintance. PS only signed up to the board recently but have found it a useful resource for considerably longer!
Richard Thomas
Hi Alex, I did that course last year and found it really useful- I'm still in touch with some of the others who did the course There are a few other soundies I've been planning to get a beer with for a while (including Andy and Mark), maybe we could do a London based meet? (I can suggest a few pubs)
badger
Hi Richard I'd def be up for that. Did you finish in 2010 then? The full 15 month job or the shorter one?
TimPitot
23 is not much good in the uk if you are wanting to stay within ch38 and use more than a few channels. 24 might be a better bet. Or hire a local ;-)
Richard Thomas
I just did the short course, couldn't afford to do the full year Hi Richard I'd def be up for that. Did you finish in 2010 then? The full 15 month job or the shorter one?
studiomprd
" good in London? " guess that depends on what you mean by 'good"... the use of wireless in London has been recently discussed in an ongoing topic re: the Olympics in 2012...
