Jon Gilbert
http://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT I've seen these on ebay and wondered if anyone has any experience of them or anything similar, as my 520Mah iPowers aren't lasting very long in the Lectro UM450s I'm currently trialing, it may be I can't get a decent battery life from the UM450, and I have to try a different tx, but these might be worth a shot...... RPSharman
I expect their performance can only be 10-15% greater than the iPowers, which might not matter much. I also find performance between individual batteries to vary, which I can only determine to be chemistry and not build quality, so results may vary +/- even greater than that. It's sure worth a try. Let us know your results.

Jon Gilbert
They're rechargable Vin, never used iPowers? They're £18 each in the UK! Mike, do you mean discussed here on the board? I shall have search....

BudRaymond
Or what about these Hitech 9V's? Rated at 600mAh
Christian Spaeth
I would only buy quality Li-Polymer batteries that are known and recommended (such as iPower). People have had Li-Polymers blow up in their hands so it might not be worth saving a few dolares on these...
LarryF
We ordered some of the Hitech batteries to try them out and have gotten pretty good results. They ran a UM450 (a power hog) for a little over 5 hours before dying. That is a little over 525mAh which is dead on with their claim of 600 mAh (under a lighter load). The reason we got them is a Canadian broadcast network has been using some 9.6 Volt NiMh batteries that seem to be causing the um400's to fail. The batteries come off the charger at well over 12 Volts (!) and occasionally take out a phase locked loop. Seven out of 10 units have failed and we are concerned. A sister production at the same location is using standard batteries in ten units with zero failures. Of course, we've tried to exactly duplicate the failures here but can't make units fail (of course). Since the batteries are the only difference we are going to propose these Hitech batteries as a better solution as they will run more than twice as long and maybe not smoke the units. Meanwhile, I'd stay away from 8 cell 9.6 Volt NiMh's and try the Hitech's. Best Regards, Larry Fisher Lectrosonics Or what about these Hitech 9V's? BudRaymond
Been using these Hitech 9v since 1/12 in my transmitters and can confirm Larrys results. Run um450 till lunch easily and um400 nearly the whole day.
soundtrane
They're rechargable Vin, never used iPowers? They're £18 each in the UK! Of course Jon, I was the first to use ipowers here in India and still use them...

Mark Orusa
Is it possible to use the iPower charger for the HITECH's? I don't know how intelligent these chargers are, other than controlling the charging current and shutting off at a specific voltage. Mark O. soundmachine
HITECH - the bummer is that the charger is only 2 bay. I found a Hitech 10 bank charger here: http://batteries.batterymart.com/search/index?filters[top_level_category]=Battery+Chargers I wonder if it would work with the 600 mAh Hitech 9 volts. I can't seem to find any Hitech website to ask.

I can't seem to find any Hitech website to ask. It is a NiMh charger, only. See where it says "don't use with any other battery types"? It will damage the battery and maybe you, if you use it with the LiPoly 600 mAh 9 Volts. Best, Larry F Lectro

Does not seem to fully charge them, based on run time after charging.

ChrisH
Use lithium disposable batteries made by Dynamis they are 1300 mah!. They are great will run a plug lectrosonics tx at 100mW for 9 hours with phantom power on. Will run a COMTEK for a week! http://www.dynamis-batterien.com/default.aspx?langSel=
Joshua Anderson
Hi Larry, Have you had a chance to try these Hitechs in UM450s? Link and an Ebay Listing And do you have an opinion about using the iPower charger in its Li-ion setting for the Hitechs 650s and 720s? Thanks, Josh
soundtrane
Chris - <Use lithium disposable batteries> Never. Why disposable? UNLESS it was a situation where i simply could not change batteries after 4 hours. iPower 520s do very well for 99% gigs. Someone should find a way to get HITECH to make a 4-bay or even an 8-bay charger... I'll try as well.
bubbapro
I have used the HiTechs all year and have had great results! HiTechs are lasting longer than my Non Rechargeable Lithium's! I bought two HiTech Kits so I would get more chargers and they charge relatively quickly. Very happy I bought them.
LarryF
Post #9 above describes our tests with the lower capacity Hitech batteries and a UM450. I would assume the higher capacity would run even longer. Cheers, Larry F
Vincent R.
I just bought these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/221002418393?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 It's a Hitech brand, so probably the same as Larry is mentioning. But for half the price... We'll see when they show up, keep you posted.
Marc Wielage
Looks like $10/apiece in quantities of 10: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-Soshine-9V-Li-ion-600mAh-Rechargeable-Lithium-ion-Battery-4-Clocks-Radios-/221002418614?pt=Battery_Chargers&hash=item3374c549b6#ht_2532wt_1432 My question is whether they would work in a NiMH charger. I'll try to check in with Thomas Distribution next week and see what they say about the Maha and Lion compatibility.
