jgbsound Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Does anyone know where I can purchase those little semi-clear plastic boxes that most sound guys have to store their lavs and the clips/holders/etc. They are hinged and open lengthwise into two halfs, One on side is a main compartment with a closeable plastic flap, and the other has about 6 individual closing sections as well. I asked the guys down at Coffey sound and they said they were made in China and the manufacturer has discontinued making them!!! Ugggh. They are perfect and I need a couple. Any help would be great! Thanks, John Quote
atheisticmystic Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Hey John, I just saw a few of those on the shelf at LSC yesterday. Might want to give them a call and see if theyre still there? Best, Steven Quote
Eric Toline Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 I use Altoid tins. I have bunches of them. I buy them by the dozen at the warehouse clubs. I'm kind of addicted to Altoids and keep an open tin on the cart with a "help yourself" sign. Great ice breaker. Eric Quote
cactuskid Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Trew has the same ones in Blue. they are like 3.99 or something Quote
steve reynolds Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Walmart carried them at one time, try travel supplies near toothpaste. all kinds of colors. clear, blue, green, purple, etc. they were .99/each. good luck Quote
Jim Feeley Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 I got some nice lav cases at The Container Store. They look a lot like the ones Trew sells, though they aren't blue. I didn't find them on the Container Store's website, but I only looked for a minute. IIRC, I found them in the travel/medication section. Can't recall the price. Cheap, though. http://www.containerstore.com/shop/travel/bottlesMedication?N=253 Could be TCS doesn't carry that specific case anymore. Quote

Thanks, John Hello John: I found a couple of these at Walmart (I think cheaper than the one linked below) - Plano Double Sided Utility Box (3450-22) and they work pretty well. Two sided compartments, I keep lavs and accessories on one side, moleskin, double sided tape, undercover, overcovers, etc. on the other side. It has dividers that you can move around to customize a bit. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Plano-Double-Stowaway-Utility-3450-22/dp/B000Y8G37C Quote
greg sextro Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 I've got at least 6, maybe 10 of em that I don't use anymore. Might not be worth the shipping, as I'm based in NYC, but I'll sell them to you if you're interested. -Greg- Quote
MatthewFreedAudio Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Fly fishing cases work very well and are inexpensive. I find they are durable and have various size compartments for the little pieces. Quote

Zack Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 http://www.trewaudio...6&cat=34&page=1 Can you get red ones? hehe Quote
Richard Lightstone, CAS Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 I'm not a fan of the cases that hold just one lav. I've been using the Plano case 3582-00 where I can hold 4 Sankens as well as mounting hardware in one case. It's a lot faster when you have multiple talent to wire and takes up far less space as well. http://www.planomolding.com/fishing/fishing-products/ Quote
Doug Osborn Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 The ACE Hardware Storage Boxes also work great (P/N 2139343). I have four of these side-by-side stacked two deep in my Portabrace production case on top of another case by Plano (P/N #3730) for my larger items. Quote
Izen Ears Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 For the record, Bed, Bath & Beyond sells the exact boxes the usual suspects sell for around $1.20. No colors just clear. Dan Izen Quote

RPSharman Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 I found a great little box at Lowe's. Made in the USA. And still very inexpensive. Quote
John Blankenship Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 You can count me among those who troll the fishing tackle aisles at sporting goods stores to find nifty little boxes to house sound trinkets. Quote
