RPSharman
These mics are new to me, so this might be normal, but when I plug the CMIT into its 48v power supply, I hear what can best be described as an electronic fart noise. I haven't done a lot of testing, but I think it does it with both mics. Anyone?

You'll only hear it if the input fader is up and you're wearing HP's. It's not a deal breaker. Eric
RPSharman
It's under a second long, and although it's been a while since I've used anything but my 50s and 416s, I don't remember hearing it before on any other mic. I just want to be sure I'm not causing damage to the mic. If not, then fart noises all around!!

Eric I was going to call the manufacturer, but how does one explain "fart noise" to a German? Do Germans fart?

With all the beer & wienershnitzel they consume I'm sure they do. The German word is "furz." Eric
Nicole Hankerson
It happens to the ones we use on set as well. It's normal. Nicole

resonate
This fart noise when powering on is also present on my Neumann KMR81's. So it is definately a German thing
RPSharman
I expected you might chime in Matthias! All jokes aside (now surely there's no word in German for joke), thank you all for letting me know my mics are, and will be, fine.
