But I need to see more scenes from backstage with sound mixers, boom operators, foley artists and many more peoples. How to create a "sound profile" for movies etc. That's interesting but not to copy paste techniques. But because we love sound and films. I started this topic to put videos from SoundWorks Collection. No for advertising exactly but for sharing beautifull videos from this site. new mexico
Coll Anderson on Documentary Sound Design We're all familiar with creative sound design for narrative films—from the buzz of a lightsaber to the roar of a T. rex. But what about the sound in documentary films? Is there a role for abstract sound to play when your film depicts real events? In this new piece for the Dolby® Institute, leading documentary sound designer Coll Anderson discusses his approach to telling true stories with sound and his use of Dolby Audio™ to immerse the audience in the story. He walks us through a short clip from the much buzzed-about HBO® documentary The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, describing how the layers of sound contribute to our understanding of a story that may be literally true or may be in the main character's head. He also talks about his work with Academy Award® winning filmmaker Errol Morris and about the evolution of sound design for nonfiction films. SoundWorks Collection - Artists in Resonance with Laura Inserra and the Hang Drum Laura Inserra is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, teacher, and artistic director. She is a classically trained musician with a strong improvisational background. She plays contemporary and world music in different projects as a percussionist, multi-instrumentalist and composer. For many years she has been involved in the artistic direction of multidisciplinary performances in Europe and in the US. In 2007 she founded Samavesha, an international non-profit multidisciplinary performing art organization based out of Berkeley. Audiences worldwide are not only mesmerized by this woman but also captivated by her virtuosity, profound musicality and the passion she brings on the stage. ABOUT THE HANG: The Hang is a musical instrument in the idiophone class created by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer in Bern, Switzerland. The instrument is constructed from two half-shells of deep drawn, nitrided steel sheet glued together at the rim leaving the inside hollow and creating a distinct 'UFO shape'. The top ("Ding") side has a center 'note' hammered into it and seven or eight 'tone fields' hammered around the center. The bottom ("Gu") is a plain surface that has a rolled hole in the center with a tuned note that can be created when the rim is struck. The name Hang comes from the Bernese German word for hand. SoundWorks Collection - Artist in Resonance with Mark Deutsch and the Bazantar Mark Deutsch can best be described as a 21st century Renaissance man. A professional musician since the age of twelve, he is a visionary artist with a background in non-linear mathematics, sacred systems and cosmology. As a classically trained bassist and sitar player he gained extensive experience in orchestral and world music ensembles, jazz combos, and solo sitar performance. While studying sitar and North Indian classical music with the legendary Ustad Imrat Khan, Mark began delving deeper into the universal fundamentals of music and their underlying frequency structures which also saw him embark on his quest to develop an instrument that could reproduce his findings. This work culminated in 1999 with Mark being awarded the US patent for his ground breaking new instrument the Bazantar - a five-string acoustic bass fitted with an additional twenty- nine sympathetic strings and four drone strings. ABOUT THE BAZANTAR: The Bazantar is a five-string acoustic bass, fitted with an additional twenty-nine sympathetic strings and four drone strings. The instrument possesses a melodic range of over five octaves, while its sympathetic range spans four octaves. This results in an interplay between melodic, sympathetic, and drone strings which weaves an unexpected landscape of resonance that is remarkably rich in texture.
