I've mixed a bunch of shorts / commercials / 2nd unit in a 'bag' setup with my 788 / CL8. It would be better to have long throw faders, of course, but it keeps your setup very compact and it does work. Unfortunately you have no EQ, which can be annoying, and can lead to your mix track needing more work than you might like.

If you need to leave your 788/receivers in 'bag mode' you could use the 'pelican mixer' setup. Throw a CL9 in the smallest pelican case that can hold it, and have a small laptop/netbook in there too. When you connect the cl9 and the laptop with wav agent you have a mobile "Cart" That connects to your bag setup but gives you more flexibility in a small package.

Welcome, Matta,

you ask a pretty broad question there, and probably haven't read the several other threads, mostly even recent, about building up a kit...

" For feature and short films mainly but the more flexible, mainly for run and gun as opposed to cart set ups, "

you are sort of speaking in oxymorons here. making answers even harder to figure.

Movies (feature length or short) really are not done well as one-person-bands, but lend themselves mostly to "carts" and 2-person or more crews.

Also, with a bit of reading, you clearly see us discussing lots of different options and scenarios, and lots of specific options for you to consider and study. (This even includes lav options for your Senn G3's)

Did I miss your "Who I Am post ?? that is a good place to tell us all more about yourself, your situation and your work.
