Laurence
Local 695 Production Sound Mixer and 50-Year IATSE Gold Card Member Alan Bernard passed away on Sunday at home with his family after a long battle with cancer. Many of you know Alan by his long list of high-profile credits... like Gunsmoke, A Christmas Story, Star Trek: Next Generation and many more... or from his decades of volunteering as an elected officer of Local 695... or through his sons, Scott and David, both long-time contributors in the Hollywood sound community. Alan was just one of those guys that, if you knew him, you liked him. Plans for a memorial service will be announced in the new year but those who are interested can see Alan's IMDB credits here http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0076130/ and can read David Waelder's biography of Alan in this month's edition of the 695 Quarterly here http://goo.gl/o5xUR. old school
I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Bernard, I only knew of his reputation as a class act. RIP. CrewC
cmgoodin
I will really miss Alan. After years of sitting behind him at Union Board meetings and kibitzing with him about the latest movies and production techniques and being amazed by his war stories from a long and fruitful career in show business. Sad to hear he lost his long battle with cancer. Rest In Peace...

WhyOne
Though I never had the pleasure of working with Alan, I spent the last seven years working with him on the Board of Directors of Local 695, where I got to know his smiles, his frowns, and his wonderful wit. Most of all, though, I will remember him for his unfailing support for the brothers and sisters of the Local. My condolences to his family, to Scott and David... St. Peter better keep his A-game on the table, cause one Saturday every month, Alan and Gino will be sitting on the other side, right up front, keeping him on track, and keeping the BS index low... Gonna miss you, Alan.
