Mark LeBlanc Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 Graph on Headphone.com show a 10 db boost over the Sony's with a very pronounced spike around 10k. Never listened to them personally, but that spike may cause ear to tire quickly.. Quote
Johnny Karlsson Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I've owned a pair of these since July 2010 - my 2 cents: I love these headphones for listening to music - and that's what I bought them for. They sound very good for their price and are well isolated, closed backs (not noise canceling, but still well isolated enough to work really well even when flying on a plane). I have also used them in the studio (of course with the straight cable, which is an optional separate purchase ;-) The Sony mdr7506's indeed sound more "flat", but even tho the frequency graph shows the SRH840's have dips and spikes, they don't sound overly "hyped", I have not experienced any ear fatigue with these, and have in fact mixed some music tracks that have translated very well on professional studio monitors as well as several other speaker sets - hi-fi stereo, car, earbuds, sony mdr 7506 etc. I have not even considered using them on location for our kind of work, because: A - they are quite heavy. B - They seem to be a bit more fragile than the Sonys. Quote
