soundtrane
Found this on RAMPS: some truly great film makers he has worked with. some of the pictures on the website are also wonderful. http://georges.vaglio.free.fr The Man is 90 years old today. Scott Smith
Babelfish to the rescue! Sometimes it doesn't get the phrasing quite right, but it beats having to look up all the words... A great site, with some incredible photos. It's maintained by Mr. Vaglio's son-in-law, who has been working on filling in some of the missing information. --S Here is a (very) rough translation, for which I have made some basic assumptions on the writers intent: Good evening, I created an Internet site dedicated to French sound technican Georges Vaglio, who during his career has taken part in more than 150 films and documentaries. He occupied all the technical positions for sound recording, boom operator, “to retie”, assistant, first assistant, engineer and moreover was an electronics specialist very compétant the transistor, he created first RF microphone system used in the French cinema. He is now 90 years old and unfortunately his memory is failing. With his/her only daughter, Sylvie (my wife), we tried to reconstitute his career. With the documents of which we have posted (photos, contracts, bulletins of wages…) we think we have reconstituted about 95% his career. You who are in the trade without doubt know somebody who may have with worked with him, for example on “God Created the Woman” or “Does Paris Burn? ” or perhaps other films. I would ask you the site http://georges.vaglio.free.fr and make comments so that we can finalize it and to correct it if necessary. Marc Wielage
Ah, I think two of the movies are Is Paris Burning and also And God Created Woman. Both very highly-regarded 1960s films. The man worked in film for at least 50 years, according to IMDB.
