Richard Thomas
I've just picked up a 2nd hand Tascam HD-P2 as a backup and I can't find any specification for power input. I've asked the manufacturer but not heard back Anyone know if it needs a 12V regulator or if it'll be happy with a 14.4V NP1 attached? Jon Gilbert
I used one for years with an unregulated HawkWoods NP1 shoe, giving 14.4ish, it was fine.

John Blankenship
Like the previous posters, no problem with 16v. That's not to say that someone might get a unit with marginal components that doesn't handle it, but the empirical evidence would say you're safe. I know it isn't the one I sold, b/c I wrote the voltage down in sharpie under the thing. The factory brick for it is supposed to deliver 12vdc tip positive, but as others have stated, it seems to be the standard field kit of 12-16vdc is acceptable
