Workflow to match Lav feed with boom?
jgbsound posted a topic in The Post PlaceDoes anyone have a standard workflow they use when equalizing a thinner lav feed to the more robust boom? I'm assuming you probably use the spectral analysis in protools coupled with an eq. There used to be a bias app called repliQ that did an awesome job but they're outta business. It seems rather clunky to do it just by ear and I'm assuming those who have more experience know exactly what to do. Any suggestions? jgbsound
Interesting Stereo (?) Imaging - Bill Frisell
Dave posted a topic in General DiscussionHi All, Was checking out this Bill Frisell concert on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loMqVClAWz4 Had my head in the sweet spot (equilateral triangle between left and right speakers). I noticed that the guitar seemed to appear right in front of me - and very forward, as if coming right to me. If i move my head slowly between the speakers, I can hear a very narrow but distinct centre. Not sure if I'm hearing a stereo mix or dual mono - nonetheless an interesting feeling that the instruments/music is coming right to me, as opposed to feeling distant coming from the stage. Curious to see what y'all might hear. Thanks. Cheers, Dave
Les Misérables - An amazing achievement
Den Nic posted a topic in General DiscussionI just saw Les Misérables and it was phenominal. I congratulate Simon Hayes (AMPS) and his sound team for the amazing production sound in the movie, without which the brillant performaces and music heard in the movie would not be possible. Congratulations of course go to all involved in making the film, but the sound team deserves special praise to what they gave to that movie! If you work in production sound, you definitely need to see the movie
