SD 633 MP3 recording Sounds lousy
TommygunZA posted a topic in EquipmentI recorded one of my files as an MP3 on my SD633 and I must say the playback on the SD sounds pretty shocking. I recorded at 192kbps and it is all artifacty and has those high pitch squiggly sounds. It sounds vaguely better played on my PC. Is this a standard thing with the 633? Currently Im just taking the wav files and encoding them using Audacity and they sound a million times (well at least twice) better than the native MP3s. Im going to have a shot with 320kbps and see if its any better. Has anyone else noticed this? Im only trying as a client wants stuff as MP3.
MP3 conversion software that adds timecode information?
Mark Orusa posted a topic in The Post PlaceI don't do it very often, but sometimes I convert BWAV files to mp3 for transcription. I have yet to find mp3 conversion software that will carry over timecode information from BWAV files into the mp3 tags. I know from experience that recording directly to mp3 from a Sound Devices recorder will spread all kinds of useful metadata-like information into mp3 tag fields. Timecode, track names, etc... But doing this after the fact via conversion software would be handy. Now that I've gone Nomad I'm curious to see how the mp3 recording option will handle metadata. It is yet-to-be-implemented currently. Actually, I'm going to HAT! Mark
I was looking for a new digital audio player...
Ju Griz posted a topic in General Discussion...and I found this. I'm probably not going to buy it any time soon, but it's so beautiful I had to share it. Reading the specs, it only takes .wav and .flac files. Any thoughts on it? <http://www.colorfly.eu/product_index.html>
