I've got three IDX NP-L7S that haven't been charged in too long I guess. They show no lights and when I try to charge em, the charger flashes a yellow light. I know these were pretty much fine last time I use them, so I feel like there should be some way to charge them a little so that the IDX chargers can work on them? There are eight terminals, and there's a clear negative, but there are two positives, A+ and B+. There's also T, S, B3, B2, and B1. I have no idea what voltage to give which contacts. Any help would be appreciated as I hate buying new stuff these days. Everything got so expensive! EDIT: One of the dead ones seems to have come back t…

I know that social media is not the place to get your news, but reading some fairly disappointing reports concerning closure of the Canadian Lectrosonics office. I have used Lectro in one form or another since 1999, as boom op, utility, and sound mixer. First in Australia, then in my forever home on the Atlantic coast of Canada. Having a local repair option was one of the main reasons in my decision to and go all in on the D2 system these past few years - as I shifted from Booming, to Mixing. Losing that local repair option absolutely causes a re-evaluation of that decision My fingers are crossed that some sort of sol…

The company that acquired Sound Devices a few years ago is acquiring again. Hope this all works out (not a side-eye diss; I do hope it works out). DPA Microphones, Wisycom and Austrian Audio, join the Audiotonix mix Chessington, February 2nd, 2026 — Audiotonix has announced its agreement to acquire three pioneering microphone and wireless audio companies to complement its current roster of global technology brands: DPA Microphones, Wisycom, and Austrian Audio. Is there anyone who's using 600 ohm headset with a Zaxcom recorder? I'm thinking on getting some 2nd hand but unused Sennheiser HME26 but they are the 600ohm version and now I'm realising I've always used my Zaxcom Nova with 100ohms HD26s. Will the headphone out of the recorder be ok with that extra impedance...? Anyone used those before on a Zax recorder? Thank you

I'm not planning on buying this (or anything from Behringer). But this is coming. https://www.behringer.com/behringer/product?modelCode=0603-AFE Audio on the YouTube video isn't great...

I posted this on my blog today. You are welcome to check out the post with all the pictures attached if you like here or read below: ---------------------------------------- I recently got a Schoeps CMR. It is a single cable solution for connecting a bodypack to a Schoeps MK series capsule. I'd like to start off by saying that if you love the sound of the Schoeps Modular MK series capsules as much as I do, and also use them for your primary plant microphones (in cars, on desks, etc.) you will LOVE what this product does! There were two ways (before the CMR) that we would use the Schoeps as a plant with the following chain of gear: Plug-on Trans…

I'm ending up in more and more loud locations (e.g., factories and music venues). I don't want to keep cranking the volume on my cans. So I'm looking for some headphones that offer greater isolation than the standard Sony 7506. I'm really used to the 7506, but will consider headphones built around other drivers. I know about (and once wore) the Remote Audio HN-7506 High Noise Headset, with up to 45dB reduction, but what else? https://remoteaudio.com/products/hearing/high-noise-headset/ Anyone tried the Beyer Dynamic DT 770 M that says it reduces exterior sound by 35 dBA. https://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/p/dt-770-m And …

Read more: http://www.timecodesystems.com/products-home/ultrasync-one/ From official Facebook page, about connectors: "It's a mini COAX rather than a mini BNC. The official connector name is DIN 1.0/2.3 and is an off the shelf connector available from most electronics hardware suppliers. Two cables are provided in the box to BNC (for timecode and genlock) and more will be available."

I have a couple Aquapacs, but they're aging so I'm looking to get a couple/few new waterproof bags for transmitters. Frankly, I mainly need splash and rainproof, but waterproof is totally fine. So are Aquapacs still the best choice, or are there alternatives that are better? TIA!

XLR Cables I am looking for good XLR cables and arguments why one is better than the other. (These cables are for Matched Pair microphones). https://www.thomann.de/intl/vovox_link_protect_s_2x500_xlr_mat.htm https://www.in-akustik.com/s25-connect-212-audio-xlr-00632120153 What does Matched Pair mean and does it matter to you in case of XLR Cables?

Hey folks, I’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on a Concart Picnic cart to use for docs, and as a small utility cart to work alongside my main cart on bigger jobs. I’m drawn to the super tiny footprint and light weight. My main cart is a Soundcart Minicart, which I love but it has grown to be kind of beast now that I’ve built it out with lots of gear and upgrades. The Concart is only around ~22 pounds with integrated storage and seems great for run and gun/lighter days. However these carts aren’t available through dealers here in Canada so I can’t check it out in person. Curious if any folks on here are using a Concart cart and can give so…

Getting requests a few times lately for files to be 1x continuous take no breaks and so far has not been a deal breaker. Is there a quick trick to make it possible if not in the recorder through a 3rd party app (short of pro tools etc)?

A butterfly style antenna is the wrong choice for most people. I have talked with a lot of mixers lately about the sudden popularity of these antennas, and there is a surprising amount of confusion about what they are, what they do well, and what they do not do at all. For the RF engineers out there, feel free to chime in and correct me where I’m wrong. A butterfly style antenna is a wideband dipole with a very broad pickup pattern. It hears a huge stretch of spectrum at once. That wide reach is the whole point of the design. It gives you flexibility across many blocks. It gives you one antenna that works with almost anything. That part…

Anyone out there use them specifically on an SL2 since it is friction mounted? I move receivers quite a bit in and out of the SL2 depending on what is needed for that project and which mixer I'm using. I hate to put wear and tear on the DB25 connector so was thinking about installing a port saver on it so that takes all the beating from constant use. I can't think of any downside but want to hear what others think. Anyone out there use them?

Hello All. The UniFlex mini gooseneck cardioid, currently using the DPA 4080 miniature mic, has been refined. The differences are: 1) Shorter, thinner, sleeker brass head, making a much lower profile when bent. 2) Powder-coat matt black finish 3) 6-1/4 inch overall length Reminder for those unaware: The UniFlex is a miniature gooseneck mic using the DPA 4080 cardioid element, and terminated with either a TA5F connector for Lectrosonics, or a MicroDot connector for adapting to wireless transmitter brands. It is very similar to the DPA 4098, but with a much shorter mic head and rounder (cardioid) pickup pattern (the 4098 is a tig…

We have four RPG2 Rokit 5 speakers that are now having some kind of low humming sound. We think it may be an internal amplifier issue but aren't sure. I have come across something about a black goo that corrodes internally after awhile due to the adhesive that is used. They are 10 years old but I'm wondering if anyone has come across a similar issue. And if so was it worth getting fix or did you ultimately replace them.

Got three files from the onboard recorders of two MTP61 and one MTP60. Metadata is strange. The file creation time suggests a proper setup, but one of the recorders is set to jan 1 2000 (So it was reset on the day of the recorder I presume.) Then, two of the three (Including the fresh resetted one) have BWF timestamps that go over 24 hour. (So instead of expected 16:00:00:00 they are at 40:00:00:00) This I have never seen before. Could have been intentionally to be able to run over midnight, but that's not the case. If I deduct 24 hours they are in sync (ish...) Metadata is very sparse, timestamp is only in the BEXT chunk, iXML has a tiny bit of more i…

Hello all. I've been feverishly working on this app over the past year and it's finally at a stage where I'm happy to release it to the public. You can download a free 2 week trial now at: metasoundtools.com Some of the features include: - Single and batch editing of audio metadata - Playback and otf mixing of polywav's - Batch merging of audio files (re-merge your radios into your master recorder files automatically) - PDF and CSV reports Lots more to come - I plan on constantly pushing out features on this over the next few months but any feedback on this basic functionality would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings Legends of Sound, Does anyone have any real world experience of the Sony digital radio mic system? I'm interested in the portable dual rx and belt pack tx's - I hate the old Sony systems but have been told the new stuff is impressive. Any one used it in anger? ? Range? Battery life? Remote control ? Sound quality?? Rf stability...?

I tried switching to a Pix 260i as my main recorder because i needed more tracks and dante compatibility. The headphone amp seems very noisy, to the point where I'm not sure what I'm recording and what I'm not line noise-wise. Everything sounds great in my 788t backup machine's headphone jack. Is this an issue across all of the Pix series? I wasn't sure if because it was a 260i audio and/or video recorder whether they cheaped out on the headphone amp vs the 970. Thanks

Has Anyone considered using the Sennheiser Profile wireless system for a camera hop? (pictured below) It is small and dirt cheap. It works on 2.4 Ghz, so I'm concerned that it might take interference from some of the motorized follow focus units out there. Currently I'm using the Lectro DCHT/M2R combo for camera hops. My main complaints with this system are that it's expensive, the m2r does not have a legit line level out and it can be blown up if the phantom power on the camera is switched on. (Unfortunately, I've done this 3 times) Would like to know if you all think this could be a viable option.

Good morning, has anyone tried the Chinese copies of Sennheiser G4 IEMs? I need several units for close-range audio, and they might be an option. Any particular brand? Any purchase links? Thanks for your opinions.

"PR-6 is a portable, foward-facing recorder for Documentary, ENG, and Video productions—delivering 32-bit float performance, 6 inputs / 10 tracks, SMPTE LTC/ATC plus wireless timecode for DEITY’s ecosystem, and Sidus App control for integrated full wireless remote control." No info on price or release date, afaik. I presume it will cost a lot less than a similar SD MixPre, and perhaps less than a Zoom F6 or something... You can get a little more info, see a couple more images (look like just renderings), and sign up to be notified upon release here: https://deitymic.com/pr-6/

Has anyone else had any interference in the form of audio ducking out while using the Sound Devices A20 Tx on Boom? Has anyone discovered the cause? I am suspecting some gear on the camera, possibly focus and/or aperture control systems, but nothing definitive yet. Hard to get time to chase it down when you are shooting a TV Series! Thanks everyone... CRAIG
