  1. We’ve posted a new episode of The Apple and Biscuit Show as a follow up to a recent survey by the folks at Production Expert. It's pretty frank and sobering (with a glimmer of light still in the end). I think (and hope) that we are having more of a discussion about the evolution of craft and finding ways to direct our energies but it's still a bit disheartening regardless. Please note that this episode does contain a reference to suicide https://soundproducer.com.au/the-apple-biscuit-show-episode-21-russ-hughes-hes-keeping-score-and-we-should-be-paid-more/ For me, a takeaway from this is the importance of peer support. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply calling up colleagues to ask how they are going and if there is anything we can do to offer a voice of reassurance or just to be there as a listener in difficult times.
  2. Professional sound mixer and Editor-In-Chief at Wav.Report Jared Elkin took a ride with us to chat about his experience in sound, the state of the industry, gear and anecdotes. I hope you find it interesting, perhaps useful. If you can take a 20 minute break, it's always a good thing to get perspective from other sound mixers. 3. Hey y'all! I'm a mixer from Idaho, and I've noticed there's quite a few podcasts coming out of my area, but most have limited audio quality (aka cheapo USB mics). I would love to be able to offer these various groups my services to show them how good of quality they can get with the right equipment. However, my mic collection is generally just production oriented (shotguns and lavs). What mics do you guys find work best for podcasts? I'd love to also have them work as table mics for live events etc, but I'm just interested in hearing everyone's thoughts. Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks again!
  4. Hey guys, So we've been sitting on an interview with Rich Van Dyke on our little podcast for a while way too long, and its finally been properly packaged and released to the wild. Its about an hour of great on-set stories, so go check it out when you get a moment. http://tonebenderspodcast.com/038-rich-van-dyke/
