  1. Hey there everyone! I just recently purchased a pair of used UM400as (block 470) from our friends over at Tai Audio in Florida. I thought all was well until a shoot about a week ago when I noticed that one of my transmitters had been very noisy. The way I would describe it; a white noise hiss that fills the floor. I've tried everything I can think of, changed freq, changed cables, changed mics, changed compat modes and even tried changing NR amount, but to no avail. The problem is now very consistent and very intrusive. I'm hoping with all my might that it's just user error and that the collective here can help me out. I've only ever experienced this once before with a UM400 that I rented about a year and a half ago. Didn't think to much about it then. I'm guessing the only other action I have is to send it into Lectro and have them repair it. The receiver that I'm using is Lectrosonics SRC. Thanks for the help in advanced and please let me know if you guys want any other info! Also a happy hello to everyone here at jwsound!
  2. Seeing if anyone has had this issue with the Lectrosonics UM400a BLK 26 in IFB mode. The issue encountered is, after about 10 min of good strong audio sending to multiple R1a units on set. The audio just fades away, comes back and then fade away. Here are all the things tried and observed to solve the issue. When I send it back to Lectrosonics how should I describe it? So I don't get a message back "We can't find anything wrong." because it looks and acts fine at first, but it seems to take a few minutes for it to happen. Thanks Observations: 1. Still solid green power light on UM400a 2. Green modulation on audio lights on UM400a 3. 3 other identical setup bag rigs with own IFB UM400a on other frequencies (swapped with others for testing) same result with bad unit 4. Sound Devices 664 x1 out put is used on all bags (swapped with others for testing) same result 5. Ta3 -Ta5 cables (swapped with others for testing) same result 6. Uses 9v eliminator (swapped with others for testing) same result 7. IFB is five frequency blocks away from nearest other Lectros on set and changed multiple times to clear channels and checked with other bags IFB to not be intermod. 8. Power cycle unit for 30 sec. fixes issue for about 10 minutes 9. Running just one bag or all bags with IFBs and same result with bad unit
  3. Hello Ya'll, I have a system (411a/um400a/COS11) issue that I'm running out of ideas on how to fix. The sound is a "verbed popcorn" sound that is intermittent. I have attached a recording of it. I have been able to repro the sound in every gear config I can think of. I've even sent the system to Lectro for tune up/testing and they could not repro the issue. Unfortunately I did not have a sample file to provide them. This system is used with one other system in a standard location bag with BDS/mixer/recorder. I've swapped out power/audio cables. Used wall power. Swapped mics, channels and frequencies. I've even relocated the units to other parts of the bag. All configs have reproed the sound. Has anyone heard this same sound? Know how to achieve reliable service again? Thanks in advance. Scott
