Brett Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Hi all long time Sounddevices user first time Sonosax user I have just purchased a SX-M32 mixer and was wondering about the factory set output limiters on the SX-M32 they seem to engage quite early around - 16 dBu on my 702T dBfs meter is this normal? Cloud Wang Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 i remember when i ordered my M32,they actually asked me how i want to setup my limiter engage point, somewhere -9dB i think mine is.....they can set it anywhere you want to but it need some specialist or back to factory to done it...... i barely open the limiter on the M32, you can feel that the sound is compressed and actually it sounds much better without the limiter though.... Brett Posted July 26, 2012 Author Report Posted July 26, 2012 Thanks for that , it does sound better without the limiter. Quote
matt.kraus Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 The output limiter threshold can be adjusted internally. The factory default setting is nominal line level (+4dBu or +6dBu for a 0 reading on the PPM meter). Pierre Blanc (sonosax@sonosax.ch) can provide instructions if you would like your local service provider to make the adjustment. The output limiter threshold setting (and other technical setup options) can also be specified at the time of ordering a new unit. The first ~100 serial numbers are candidates for a limiter update. The result is a more transparent limiter. Later units shipped with the improved design. Quote
