Pietari Koskinen
I know what it is, but do you? Make a guess!
takev
Hi, Ok, I'll have a guess. Is it one of these headphones (more neckphones really), that transfer the audio through your jaw bone? My seconds guess would be the other way around, a microphone that listens to your jaw bone, for communication in a high noise environment. Cheers, Take
Doug Brandon
Sorry Mr. Koskinen, you know the rules... It's a KGB torture device. Now we must terminate you. code name dOuG
Travis Groves
It's a throat mic. Travis Groves
Pietari Koskinen
Ten points, throat mic it is! This particular one was used during WWII by Finnish tank crew for communications between the members, and also to the fire control (I believe). Here are some more pictures about that nice hands-free combo. The headphones look (and feel, I can tell) especially comfortable. Travis Groves
Could be effective under a turtle-neck as a lav replacement, lol Actually, throat mics are still used by spec-op guys and motorbike racing teams for communications in high noise environments. I love this stuff. Travis Groves
Doug Brandon
I just tested a throat mic system for fire fighters that translates vox to text that shows up on a heads up display system in the helmet. Scott, That sounds like a good time! Did it work well? Doug
Darren
I have two throat mics that I use with my FRS radios for communications between my sister and I when we are travelling on our motorcycles. They work GREAT. Good Signal/noise in loud environments and not susceptible to wind noise. However, not particularly HIFI either. http://www.iasus-concepts.com/nt/nt-modular.htm#
