Hi everybody!
This might be a silly question, but i was wondering.... While watching a game of thrones episode
When you shoot scenes with dialog around a campfire how do you go about it?
I never faced this situation , and i don't think i will soon, but i'd just like to know!
Thanks!

"You can break the rules only when you have mastered the rules."
Loved that!
I do the boom on the head all the time... But then again, i've worked with more or less the same crew for over 2 years andwe shot around 35 pages of text per day.... With lots of "sit and talk" scenes. The boring world of soap operas. (Just said no to the next project, going to look for different things! )
My colleague actually has a dent in his head, to wich the pole slides to, regardless of where he drops the pole, kind of scary...

Has anyone ever used a beyerdynamic 950 indoors?
I loved to use it on a music studio and never had a chance to use it
in a shoot.
Fun thread !
So, the list from my TV job (my personal one is ridiculous...)
2x cmit5u
2x mkh50
2x 416 (only use them for plants though, we never use it on the pole)
4x cos11

I swim twice a week, wich i feel really improved my posture, practice aikido 3 times a week, wich REALLY! improved my patience, and run 3 to 4 times a week. I also attend occasionally to other martial arts classes like jiujitsu and capoeira, but that's mostly for fun.
When i'm not able to practice sports for some reason, it doesn't take me long to feel way less energetic, so i try to at least run, even if just a few miles.
The down side is i don't get much time to sleep, we have 12 hour days at work, everyday.
Food wise i always carry fruit, oatmeal cookies, and a variety of Teas with me.
(its pretty acceptable to eat during wardrobe changes and such, as long as not directly on set)
At lunch it really depends, i try to eat healthy but in some locations Pizza and pasta are waaay to good to skip on.

Marc, that is true! Hadn't thought about that.

You're very welcome guys! My pleasure!
I really liked the interview, John sounds like a true Gentleman.
I was only a bit bummed that he never mentions his Boom op(s).
Nate, Michael does a great job with his videos at SWC, i especially
enjoyed the Watchmen panel and the interview with Michael Semanick.

At least in Portugal the standard is just to lower the pitch by one octave or so.
I've been in the US for 6 months and i haven't watched TV yet....
-
I've seen that being done many times in Portugal, and even had to do it myself once!

Don't get me wrong -- the new PT9 does look very cool. I wonder if the new version eliminates the need for DigiTranslator? The specs are kind of vague on this.

Hi Mark
It does indeed eliminate the need for digitranslator.
That and the no need for proprietary hardware
rock!

Hello All
I just watched Star Trek and in the scene in which Kirk is on trial for cheating on a test, there are Blue Mouse Microphones on the stand; does anyone know if they were used to record or if they were just props?
I'm curious because the dialog sounds really good to me!
Cheers!

Thanks Adam! Awesome in depth article about a subject i'm quite interested on. (and the hydrophone recordings are gorgeous!!!!)

The zoom h4 behaves very nicely, and it goes for half the price of the d50, the trade off its the plasticky construction, but if that is not much of an issue its a good option economics wise. Also the size and the time it takes going from off to record ready(around 13 seconds) are about the same of the d50.
Cheers

Hi Antonio, not really to reply to your question, but rather to say:
It's good to see a fellow Portuguese in the Forum!
Oh well, best of luck with your journey.
Boa sorte
