  1. Someone mentioned that he heard of a new box that is being released, and I've forgotten where he said he saw it. It sounds like a single channel recorder that you would plug the lav into, and then output the signal to the transmitter, so you would get a recording prior to the RF signal. Anybody know about this?
  2. Wow. I just skimmed your documents and it's some of the best info I've seen. Right to the point of my original post. Hopefully I'll have some time later this week to read them thoroughly. Thank you!
  3. I'm a bit late to the thread, but I don't use the CL-6 either. I have the Petrol bag and rate it a C minus.
  4. I wish someone would come up with a truly invisible lav that weighs zero and doesn't have a cable.
  5. I use the remote audio BD system with IDX NP style lithium. I've had it about 5 years and have never had a problem. The y power cables mentioned above are great.
  6. Thanks Eva I only wish! Unfortunately, being in Portland Oregon, visiting a production sound store is not an easy proposition...sigh. But I'll take your advice on the book and maybe make a phone call to Trew.
  7. Thanks to all so far. Good advice on searching through google versus using the forums search engine. And the advice to use "TC" as well as "timecode"! Yes, it is practical advice I'm in need of. As Constantin says, most of the info is about the inner workings of TC. I am beginning to get a better handle on the "how it's done" from some searches. I'm getting little pieces of info by the questions and responses, and then able to start piecing together the bigger picture. Still looking for that "magic book".
  8. Can anyone recommend a book or article to help explain best or standard procedures on how to connect and maintain time code sync between camera and audio recorder? Most of what I've read concerns frame rates, free run vs rec- run, etc. Beyond specs, I'm looking to find out info such as; is it best to have a time code cable between generator (in my case the SD 664) and camera connected at all times if possible (such as cameras on sticks for a sit down interview) If frame rates and TC are synced, why is a timecode slate used? How would a Lockit box help? As I said, searching the web has not given me the hands on type of info I'm looking for. Generally I would work on a 1 or 2 camera shoot. Thanks in advance.
  9. I'm taking my first trip to Europe with my Lectros, block 21. I contacted Lectrosonics and they don't have RF info for Europe. How can I find info if these units will work in Croatia. Any pointers would be appreciated.
  10. I did search this forum and did not find the answer, that's why I asked. Why are some so eager to give demeaning answers? If you can't help, just shut up. I thought "there are no stupid questions". Sheesh, excuse me for entering your sacred ground! BTW I eventually found this. http://www.pro-sound.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PSS&Product_Code=SRTTC&Category_Code=
  11. Thanks all Those premade cables will do the job
  12. PS I won't have access to the camera until the day of the shoot when the producer arrives in town with it. So I can't test it out beforehand.
  13. Thanks again guys. Apologies to John for our spat. I use a 442 mixer. The reason i did not mention it in my original post is that my plan was to send 1 track of audio to the Zoom through the mixer, and the timecode from the camera directly to ch 2 on the zoom, not through my mixer. I thought if I just padded that signal, I would avoid potential problems, but perhaps I am creating un-necessary ones with that plan. John is correct about the digital file only to be used for a transcription, so quality is not the primary concern on that file. The camera's audio will be used in the edit. The transcription house can read the timecode and add that as notes to the printed document so a rough "paper edit" can be prepared. I understand the networks and news magazines do this all the time, so my original post did not include all the details. I thought the Zoom H4 was popular enough that someone would have gone through this and tell me how they dealt with it.
