  1. A few years ago I was rang by a Producer for a picture my Sound Mixer and I had been asked to do being directed by Sydney Pollock (Havana), he asked me what the sound equipment was going to cost, and when I told him he thought it was a bit expensive but stuck to my guns and he agreed but not happy. A couple of weeks later he rang again asking what it be for extra gear ie sound playback machine/ earwigs with amps for dance scenes and some 2nd unit gear I told him no charge after a pause he said why's that I said its all incuded in the package, I had read the script and worked out what we would need and plenty of backup as we were in the Dom Republic

He never queried a thing after that and we ended the best of friends

  2. This topic was just posted over on RAMPS, and it's something I've been thinking about for a while.  When shooting HD and in a studio environment, it's somewhat regular practice to use a delay unit for IFB to director/script and the village.  My set up is more a rough and tumble location show, that just happens to shoot with F900's.  Last year we went through 18 camera bodies (that I know of) over an 8 month period.  We brake 'em, they send out a new one.  Crazy...

Back on subject.  There is a slight delay to our monitors at video village due to the down-converters.  Our video village has at least 2 monitors going, sometimes 3, with different down-converters on each monitor.  Last year A camera was a bit faster than B camera.  I'm thinking about adding a delay in my signal path to my Comteks so tighten up the visual sync at the directors monitors.  Anyone using a DC powered delay unit?  Thanks in advance!
