  1. Few months back. Can't name the update number off the top of my head (7.20 or something?) but it could cause no audio getting to outputs so it was pretty serious.
  2. I don't think it would be a 'constant stream of emails'. If every Zaxcom product on the market needed a software update every day that would still only be about 10 emails sent as a mass group mail. And realistically, it's only a few times a month maximum that they'd need to send anything at all. Plus Zaxcom clearly had something like this in mind when they asked us all to sign up to a mailing list. They just haven't done anything with it. For mission critical stuff (like the recent DON'T USE THIS UPDATE thing for Nomad) it would be invaluable.
  3. I try to visit when I can. Previous posters have made a good point though, especially as Zaxcom started an email network that they've done nothing with.
  4. As I live in Manchester that will be easily done!
  5. Ta. Might get some cables made up and give them a go. I'd like to improve my range on the basic set up in any way possible, so if it turns out it is the Nomad causing problems then I'll have to try and mitigate this.
  6. 788 *used* to throw out a bloody load of RF and particularly in the spectrum we use. Channel 69 was FUBAR by the 744. Nomad has some very small traces *sometimes* across the spectrum depending on its mood and a very prominent spike at 614mhz.
  7. I have a Nomad, although the principle is the same.
  8. Been a while, but I used 788's with the older SRa and has endless issues. I was of the mind that the 788 put out considerably more RF garbage than the Nomad, although as this is usually frequency specific it may be worse from the Nomad on 38. My scans indicate not, but I'm wondering if I really need a more detailed analysis to see what's going on.
  9. Unless I've missed something the squelch for the SR range is controlled by the Smart Squelch system and is not user defined.
  10. I'm kind of puzzled now. My test scans with my Nomad on do suggest minor interference from the machine but nothing I would expect to shorten range so dramatically. I do hope it's not reducing my range in a way that the scan displays can't illustrate. I never get that kind of distance (especially on 50mw) even with just one TX in use.
  11. I *might* get better range in an empty stadium with RX up high, but never that range normally. And that's on a clear frequency and single TX. Nomad does throw out some garbage onto the RX but the displays shows that at around 614 which I always avoid. Average range on both of mine is not impressive.
  12. Interesting. Neither of mine will, at least under normal circumstances. I'd say average max range at 50mw is about 30 metres, sometimes rather less. Hence me pondering the quality of CH38. I've seen other channels go much further.
  13. Can't say I've ever noticed it on my Nomad. Used to hear it all the time on the 788.
  14. Speaking from my own experience, car-to-car, even with TX set to 250mw and the trunk open on the camera car, is a total crapshoot. Both sets of aerials are inside big metal boxes and close to working engines both of which can radically affect range. As previously mentioned, you need to think about getting the aerials on the outside of the vehicles. There are posters on here who have had success without doing this, but it is by no means definitive. More previous experience with their own particular gear and circumstance.
  15. Power isn't everything. This is predominately a US frequented forum and while many US mixers seem uncomfortable with our UK limit of 50mw I've found my own Lectro don't see much of an improvement in range at 100mw when using the 'rubber duckies'. 250mw can dramatically improve range for long walk and talks but it's not a magical cure. I had two TX out the other day at that power and whilst one of them provided startling range the other was fritzing all over the shop until it was within 25 yards of me. Good frequency coordination and better aerials on the RX work wonders. I have no scientific proof to back it up, but in my opinion our new CH38 is far more problematic than other 'illegal' channels.
  16. Well then, you are getting a premium wideband system at a bonus price. Whilst I don't know prices on future manufacturers wideband releases, they are unlikely to be cheaper than the reduced price Wisy and most likely more. Full price Wisy are VERY expensive. Worth considering if the TX are the units without limiters.
  17. Where in the UK are you finding Wisy for that price? The 'special deal' expired some time ago.
  18. I have a 614. I've never heard my zips jingling on any of my tracks. But I suppose there is the potential for this.
  19. With the utmost respect - go and boil your head. Given that Ellor is looking for feedback for the last prototype this is entirely pertinent. As usual your comment is NOT.
  20. These all sound like good ideas. I thought the rain cover was originally going to be attatched via small magnets? I much prefer that idea over the pop studs or even velcro. Jon is right. It's a basic requirement.
  21. I've just seen this! This sounds just my sort of bag! I had a play with the OR30 recently and it's incredibly sturdy. It was the version with pop studs though (YUK!) which I hope is changing. I'll be taking off the carry handles and putting my own single-lift strap I think. Any news on release dates for the new OR41 ?
  22. Tell me about it! I took mine off to fix the Zaxnet aerial connector and couldn't believe how bastard heavy it is! I'd love to get somebody to make an aluminium one or even carbon fibre composite, but I have a vague idea that the chassis is a ground or summat for the unit. My battery has just gone, so I must get this done as well.
  23. It's something of a shame that whatever the innards are of the 235 that decode the TC via UHF signal cannot be squeezed into the 200 (I'm guessing the Zaxnet bits are still used in some way even though the TC is arriving in a different manner). A wideband hop with built in TC is really the 'killer app'.
  24. These look fun. Not sure about setting the clock via computer though (don't have a laptop). Via phone would be great. My ERX are right angle non-locking mini-jack. I'd prefer locking, but nobody has pulled them out - YET.
