I'm looking for a copy of the service manual (not the user manual) for the MixPre. if you could be so kind and contact me with a copy. i'm doing some internal cleaning and would like to see an exploded view so i know how it all fits together. the website doesn't have it, i think because they only supply service centers. thanks everyone. Hi I'm trying to remix some files I have taken off my mixpre 6 by putting them back on and doing a remix. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? I've tried just putting the folder back on the card, the mixpre sees the project but when I try and open it just won't do it. The card has been formatted since I made the recording and so maybe there's a file that's missing.

Hi All, Wondering if anyone has done a music tracking session into a DAW using a Sound Devices MixPre 6/3? Thinking of retiring an Apogee Duet Firewire and wonder how the MixPres sound for music tracking. It's ability to do double duty is very attractive if the studio sound is in the Duet league or better. I've seen a video or two demo-ing recording music live-off-the-floor direct into the MixPre - more curious as to how it sounds as DAW interface as compared to others in it's price-point. Would love to hear a full layered session (clean instruments - not distorted guitar) with a w

hi, i'm going to contact sound devices on monday, but i just wanted to find out from you guys about the problem with using rechargeable AA's in the mixpre with the tube being too narrow and/or the end cap not picking up power. i've read posts where the batteries get stuck inside & the cap connector not making proper contact. i've also read that people sent them into sound devices to get modified at a cost of 80 to 100$. do the newer manufactured ones (just before the release of the mixpre-d) have those problems fixed or not? i wonder if at a certain serial number this problem was rect

i'm hoping someone will help me out to understand the difference (if there is a difference) when using an older SD mixpre which has outputs that are impedance balanced, vs. an newer mixpre that has active balanced outputs when using it as a front end to feed signal into ch 3/4 of a 744T. i've got a few other questions: are there differences in quality, level, rf/interference rejection or other? is active-balanced and balanced the same thing? when going through an xlr how does impedance balanced avoid interference by having only one voltage line when compared to balanced that has 2

hi guys, besides the obvious extras in the "d" version, i just want to know if the transformers and limiter are the same between the two versions. (i know that the 552 has been discussed here and it has different components from the 442). i've googled and searched for some info but haven't found any answers. cheers, P.
