  1. Thanks guys! I'm definitely not stuck on these two. I do know that Dremel offers a large assortment of bits, so my only requirement is that the tool be compatible with those bits. Can't see why it wouldn't be... My favorite drills so far have been from Makita, Milwaukee, and one Ryobi I've tried. Craftsman made an old drill press that I used for a ton of different applications. Not surprised if they offer a decent rotary tool. Can both of you tell me which models specifically?
  2. Okay this is a little off topic, but I tend to do a lot of DIY and am looking at a rotary tool for the job. This is more of an "equipment" question as it is primarily comparing the Dremel 4000 to the Proxxon, specifically the 38472, but feel free to move it to DIY if the shoe fits. The 4000 is at the top of the Dremel line while this particular Proxxon is mid grade, but is slightly more pricy then the Dremel. I've searched online and found several review and videos, all mixed. I particularly like the drill press for the Proxxon over that for the Dremel, but it so mixed on everything else that I'm asking those here that have used either or both. I'm asking specifically here because, well, I trust some of you. For better or worse. (tongue sticking out face) Basically, it seems Dremel isn't what it used to be, or at least that's what I'm reading. Whereas Proxxon is less known and has those who love it those who've had bad experiences. I've worked in a manufacturing shop with all the right tools. I'd love to have that shop again, but really, I'm not building a shop here. I want to build prototypes for ideas in my apartment. Opinions? Thanks.
  3. I might be checking out the K-Tek harness as well. I've been using the Orca for over a year and I'm just not happy. Luckily my neighbor is a retired construction worker who wore harnesses for a living and my girlfriend is a Physical Therapist, so I'm going to hire them both to tweak the Orca on my body before giving up. It just doesn't feel comfortable to me and there is more pressure on the shoulders than I feel there should be.
  4. Those are technically emoji, which I could take or leave. I'm happy using the standard emoticon Which doesn't display. It would be better to either disable it completely so standard text emoticons can display, or just allow emojis. The question mark is a little strange.
  5. This is good stuff. Thanks! Essentially, if it gets to a point where some basic adjustments can be made via the web interface, it would make bag drops a bit easier as long as the recorder can be accessed wirelessly. Is that a potential feature you can forsee or does the hardware prevent this ability?
  6. That's a big deal. It seems like a thing that Zaxcom could also make happen, but for now it can be a little frustrating to stop what I'm doing in the menu system to go into record mode. Didn't know about this either. Really cool stuff. This is the biggest thing, here. I'm sure quirks and features will all show themselves when we get more hands on the device. Maybe it won't be for me, but I'm excited to see what comes of it.
  7. After owning my 4017C for just a few days it spent several hours in a brewery near the top of several open Coppers where the brewers were mixing ingredients. There was a lot of steam directly hitting the microphone throughout the day. No issues, though since then it's been through pretty mild climates.
  8. What Marc said. Used 01v96 is probably your best bet if you can find one in good condition. Don't go for the Presonus. I've used the StudioLive more times than I cared to and it limited and frustrated me at every stage.
  9. I'd love to hear more from anyone getting their hands on the unit. It fits the bill for me as a very small (Maxx sized) unit that can expand to 16 channels. I was looking at keeping the Maxx for bag and utilizing the 970/QL1 for cart, but this is an interesting option for a more portable cart setup. (I'd still likely utilize a 970 and QL1 for a bigger cart since I'm a big mixer board kinda guy.)
  10. Which DPA Concealer are people recommending? Both the 4061 and 4071 are slightly larger than the TL40 yet I see people recommending both. Which one specifically? Thanks.
  11. The Extra Small Aviator looks like a good size to fit a small (junior sized) sound bag and microphone along with Lithium Ion batteries as a "personal item". The basics to have incase your checked hardware doesn't make it set.
  12. Then maybe it's Sonosax that you should be upset with for hyping a product that they were not really in allowance to sell in the first place. Maybe they could have licensed the rights to use the technology, had they even tried. Zaxcom did nothing wrong in this scenario. I am still looking into the SX-R4+ even with the restriction, and I'm not upset with either party. But if I were, it wouldn't be Zaxcom.
  13. Can I ask why? You can still buy the Sonosax and it will still have a very good converter comparable to most other high quality recorders on the market.
  14. Don has been very responsive in recent emails, which is a good sign. He says he's personally testing a 10' pole in the lid of a Pelican for me and would even shim it a little for $50 if necessary to fit. I've heard stories about support, but at the very least this email exchange has been highly promising.
  15. Thank you, Christopher. Internal cable is definitely desired.
  16. I'm looking for a new light-weight pole that fits within a particular size range. Both Ambient QX 565 and Loon SLOON6 (or possibly 9) fit my needs. Looking at the below thread I see that Panamic is a very popular choice as well, but doesn't quite fit my size requirements. Some people really like Ambient, but it looks like the locking collar might not be the best. Loon seems very good, but I may or may not have issues getting one shipped? In any case, given the option of Ambient or Loon, which do you prefer and why? Thanks.
  17. Thanks, Jose. I'm now also looking at the Ambient QX565-CCM pole. It breaks down to 2.13' and extends out to 8.5', which should fit diagonally in the 1560M. I'm talking with them to get exact measurements. Alternatively, I might consider the iM2720. It is only slightly larger on the outside, but has more internal space. I do like the Mobility cases, though.
  18. This is why it's good to ask: The website comparison PDF has the 102CCR listed at 2'3", as do many sellers. A couple sellers list it at 2'7". Karen assures me that this pole is 2'7" and will look into making corrections. Good service, but a little bummed. Those were some good looking specs for a moment. Back to the drawing board. I'd like something that extends out close to 9' and breaks down to around 2'. Haven't looked much yet. Hoping that exists.
  19. Found the CCR by itself at 3". I'll take that to mean that the remainder of the pole is 24".
  20. Thanks, Dave! Do you know the length of the pole with the CCR removed? With that info I can talk to someone at Pelican.
  21. Thanks, Patrick! If disassembly/reassembly is relatively pain-free, that sounds like it could be an option. I can confirm with Dave, but it's difficult when asking specific questions about products from two different companies. Thanks again.
  22. If that's an option that would certainly be the way to operate it. I was going off of cstauffer's post since I don't use the controller. Based on experience from other mixers and controllers, I would certainly have it set up that way.
  23. Nice work. They do look fine on computer. It's just the phone. I've seen it on a some other people's posts as well. Haven't tried clicking. Maybe I'll try later.
  24. Yeah the the video has too many quick cuts and is too flashy to be of much use. Super cool teaser video, as we all want to know more and I'll probably end up picking it up, but I'd love to see them release a more ... boring video showing a good variety of application. I was able to find a couple more pictures on Facebook after searching around. It looked like it all fits pretty well.
  25. Soundtrane: From personal experience I've found that not all listed dimensions on various cases are 100% accurate while others might be. I also know that that pole can have the connector portion dismantled if necessary and those dimensions are not listed. Additionally, some cases that I've seen have rounded corners on the interior, in which case "simple geometry" isn't going to be of much use. I don't know about the Pelican case. This is why I'm asking from people who have actually successfully or unsuccessfully done this. In any circumstance, your response isn't particularly helpful. Jon: That is something I should have specified. I meant standard carry-on sized Pelican, but I've all but passed on that idea. I'm thinking either the 1610 or maybe now the 1560. Thanks! Rich: Thats what I'm thinking about. For flying I wouldn't mind partially disassembling just that section, but nothing more. Don't want to spend more time than I need setting up after a flight. Thanks! I would like to know if anyone has successfully done this. If not, what is the smallest Pelican or Portabrace that would fit this particular pole with or without the base removed. Thank you.
