    DPA 4060 Blm

Hello all, anyone tried or using the dpa 4060 blm? I have a sanken cub and it just never really does it for me. It's useful because of it's size but soundwise I find it's a million miles away from my schoeps or dpa lavs. I've spotted the dpa boundry and I wonder if anyone uses it. It looks a lot bigger than the sanken. Wonder if it sounds like a 4060 as the name suggests? Cheers.
  2. Sam, i started with a 416, then heard a schoeps cmc6mk41. blown away, the most natural sounding microphone. buy one and you will love it. if you don't i'll buy it off you;). the MKH 50 or MKH 8050 could also be a good way to go, they might be closer in sound to your 60 but if you get the schopes you'll still be happy.
  3. Hey Noah, that's a great read, thanks for that.
  4. Your right there Eric, Toronto is indeed in Canada! should have looked more closely, my apologies, cheers.
  5. sorry Andy, i meant to address my earlier post to you and not to nick! thanks for the info, the emesser really sounds like a pretty neat set up. would love to try and get a listen to one, i'll try a local store. and thanks for the info on how you run the set up. i'm sure the schoeps set up sounds great, i've yet to hear one of their mics that doesn't. but that greatness ain't cheap. cheers.
  6. hey this is great everyone, thank you. sounds like they all have their merits/problems. the sony pcm-d50 is definitley around the 600 euro mark (on thomann) in this neck of the woods, so that puts it at least a couple hundred above the rest (no doubt it is better screwed together). think it's a case of putting them in a hat and picking a winner! thanks again, hugh.
  7. Hey eric, the sony d 50 looks like a lovely machine, probably is more expensive than i was hoping to spend (could buy three zooms for the money here!). Nick sounds like the h2 does a good job for you, so you just run tape out of the SD into the zoom. mini jacks always frighten me but i suppose it's going to be mini jack on any machine of that size. i notice the h4 can take a balanced xlr in i suppose the trade off is the overall size of the machine is increasing. anyone tried the korg or olympus offerings? cheers guys, hugh.
  8. Sometimes i really wished i lived in the U.S.! this sounds like it was an amazing opportunity to hear from experts. just wondering if there was any kind of transcript or record of the event. how did it all go? all the questions listed here are ones i would love to hear answers to. fancy meeting up in ireland next time ...
  9. Hey guys, i've tried a search for this but i can't find a specific answer. i'm looking for something small that i can use in my bag when i'm out and about and would like to pick up the odd spot effect or ambience. ideally it would take a line in signal from my 442 and be small enough not to notice in my mixer bag but be of a useful enough quality to be usable. (i would be using schoeps CMIT or mk41 or rode stereo nt5) i read that the microtrack has a too short and unreplacable battery. the other options appear to be the R-09, the zoom h2 or h4, or a few korg options. anyone got any favourites that they think might suit my needs. appreciate any input. cheers, hugh.
  10. Hey nick, i was just logging in to post the exact same question about the Ambient ATE 208 Emesser. i was just doing a simple doc. where we were shooting a lot of GV stuff and i was thinking it would be great to have a simple stereo set up to flick on to gather some nice atmos and then go back to mono when i needed. got me thinking about this Emesseer. i too had a listen to the prior model which was too noisy to be useful for me. thanks for the response Andy, it must be a very new mic as i couldn't find any other user comments on the net. i use a CMIT as my outdoor mic and I'm wondering is it possible and not too awkward to leave the Emesser set up and still boom comfortably and switch to stereo and back to mono easily (I'm talking for simple over the shoulder gigs). also what kind route would you go if you wanted an M/S schoeps set up? is it possible to leave a schoeps figure 8 mic in the same way you could with the Emesser. i would presume there is a fair difference in price. i have the rycote suspension kit that is shown on the ambient website for the emesser (the S-series 375 Kit which I'm not a big fan of) so I'm presuming the emesser must fit in this windjammer then? would i need a new kit for a schoeps figure 8? thanks for the responses guys
