Fred Salles Posted December 23, 2021 Report Posted December 23, 2021 Hello, I am curious to know why in many Hollywood movies the video assist person is credited alongside the sound team? I even saw it listed in the sound department in several templates of film production budget software. Anyone could explain? (In France the video assist is and has always been part of the camera department hence my curiosity). Thanks Fred
Moesound Posted December 23, 2021 Report Posted December 23, 2021 Hey Fred, Here in the states, Sound and VTR are part of the same local (695) within the union (IA). That’s probably the reason. Regards, Moe

Michael McQueen Posted December 24, 2021 Report Posted December 24, 2021 yea, within the union its listed under the same section. sound, playback and VTR. I've wondered if others mixers also dabbled in the VTR world. seems kinda counterintuitive tho, as not much of the gear is not cross compatible, mostly lots of picture boxes.
