Red Devil
I'm working with law enforcement. Anyone have a pouch they've used before to hide lectro um400s on their belts? I've been using black gaff tape to make them as inconspicuous as possible but would rather have a pouch that blends in with the rest of their gear
Jon Gilbert
I've never been short of places to stick a TX on Law Enforcement or Forces folk, there's always somewhere on the body armour, or the harnesses they wear.

johnpaul215
I always meant to go to the cop shops with the officers and find a pouch, but the officers I last worked with were wearing the body armor that looks like a SWAT vest (as opposed to the stealthy low profile kind) and I just used one of the top pockets most of the time. You could look online for police gear, but if you are near a city then I bet there are shops that sell that stuff. A lot of officers pick out specific gear to hold their smartphone or something. chris_bollard
Last time I has to wire a lawman he and she had no room at all on their belts! Think about what they have; handgun, cuffs, torch, taser, two way radio, pepper spray..... You can't go under the Kevlar vest for safety reasons.... Trouser pocket was all that was left and turned out fine once I cleared RF blocking gear from the area
Tapio
I've done four seasons of a documentary series that followed around different units of law enforcement. In my neck of the woods the police officers use a work uniform which has got plenty of pockets for wireless transmitters. The designers of the uniform had even included pre-made holes for cables. Very easy! Some of the detectives, agents and other types of law enforcement personnel naturally don't use a uniform, so we had to find a good looking solution that they could wear on thier belt. I've used "tactical" pouches designed for military and police. They look "official" enough and are also quite rugged. This one fits SMDB, Sennheiser G3, Audio Ltd En2 etc. perfectly: http://www.hazard4.com/products/accessories/small-pouches/big-koala So does this one: http://www.condoroutdoor.com/ma73techsheath.aspx 5.11 Tactical does also have excellent pouches in their collection: http://www.511tactical.com/All-Products/Bags-Backpacks/Pouches.html This one is designed for smart phones but fits easily a wireless transmitter too: http://www.511tactical.com/All-Products/Bags-Backpacks/Pouches/C3-Case-S-Small-Phone.html -Tapio
MatthewFreedAudio
I've put a UM400a in the breast pocket of quite a few law enforcement folks. If they don't have an outer breast pocket and they have room on their belt you could try a larger cell phone holster. <br /><br /><br />Production Sound Mixing for Television, Film, and Commercials. <br />www.matthewfreed.com
Ferdinand Almalvez
+1 to what these guys have already said. I did a show and they had an extra pouch on their belt to put the TXs in, usually a SMQV and if that was out of the question I simply put it inside their pockets. Easy stuff. AndyB
The one time I had to mic a LEO, yeah, it was no problem putting the Tx on the belt in an "official" looking pouch. The problem I ran into (well, not really a problem, just time consuming) was getting the lav and cable on him. Took a while to strip off enough gear to get the cable routed and mic in place. This was for narrative, not reality, but the officer was real, and showed up in full gear.
