Rubber Poker Chips

Whit Norris

Recommended Posts

I seem to remember several years back that the prop master had rubber poker chips. The prop master I am currently working with says all the prop houses and suppliers do not have any and have not heard of rubber poker chips. Has anyone else ever ran across these on a set?

Thanks,

Whit

Hmmm... Rubber pool balls, but not poker chips. I try to just coordinate action around the words as best as possible. The sound of the chips is great, as long as the can not "double-click" in the edit.

Perhaps see who mixed/propped "Rounders" or some more recent poker movie. Steve Morantz mixed "Runner Runner". Was that a poker movie?

I'd bet they don't fall the same way or slide the same way or look right on camera. Ok for background, I guess.

I remember finding some at my Grandmother's house that were kind of pressed paper, like hardcover book paper with an outer wrap. If I remember right the box called them silent or something. Probably 1950s or 1960s vintage. They didn't look like hard plastic casino poker chips, but if it's not a casino, they were a real product.

I'll have you know it took four or five search strings to come up with that bounty of results, Messrs Wielage and Lightstone. Furthermore, I was NOT drunk Googling.

:D

And since we're on the subject, have often been frustrated not having found the perfect search terms. Of instant interest, this for "retainable studs":

Those words and only those got me to the quick release racing fasteners that will allow me to switch out upper shelf units with a quarter turn:
