  5. Thanks! I guess every place is different but here is what I found for Canada. http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf09826.html It is prohibited to use sound equipment in the range of 401 to 457mhz in most cases but also mush higher in other cases 1395-to 1675mz and also in the 2k+ range that we don't need to worry about. http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf09543.html They don't use the band in 584–608 MHz because of digital television stations. Might be able to find some available bands in some regions. http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf09546.html The hospitals have also some concerns about 470–583 MHz because they need to retune often, so it might be a possibility for find some clean band in that range. Some WMTS devices operate in the band 174–216 MHz so be carefull with Comtek 216...
  6. Hey guys interesting thread. Next week I have a one day shot in an hospital (in the delevery section) on a feature documentary and I'm a bit concerned about wireless issues. Legally wise and concerning possible interferences also.... Cellphones are prohibited but what about wireless mics can they interfere with the medical equipment?
  7. Hey folks thanks for the tips and ideas. I received the suit and the mask today to do some testing. Due to the complexity of the shoot I have decided to double mic the 3 talents with one transmitter each. One mic in the hat and the other in the mask. Once they will remove their masks I'll take the time to plug the right mic (the one attach to the forehead) to the transmitter. Masks are so thick that you can't barely hear when some speaks. I will mic the mask inside at the top of the nose with a good tape because it will be humid and the transmitter it at it's minumum because other position it will clip. I will ask them not to scream! I am using sankens only not B6. wanna be scientific if you want.
  8. Well you know it's for TV and they don't dub anything. I doubt that the mic will be too close to the mouth in the mask and it will sound too watery, sweaty and it will pop a lot.
  9. Here is the astronaut suit: (can't add it here) https://www.dropbox....ec_IMG_5896.jpg
  10. Hey guys I am on a gig where the subjects are walking in abandonned places and they need to wear Tyvec suits, they look terrible and it sounds terrible also! (see the attachment) The boom won't be able to get close enough in most situations so wireless are needed. I was thinking maybe to mic the forehead with a strap inside the hood, or else see the mic outside the vest by doing a hole in the suit. I am sure both options won't work because the "talents" will remove their hood outside the building and the compagny won't let me do holes in the suits... I will do test on a suit soon but I would love to hear you on this.
  11. Is this the Petrol 617 that you got?
  12. That's the thing I don't have some kind of enclosed sound cart I am starting as with my MBP interface mixer and boom pole + mics. I would like to keep evething small and simple for now. I will be looking maybe for some kind of light rack mount to fit the laptop in...
  13. Hi I am looking for dust and rain cover for my Macbook Pro, I will be using it for sound recording in a dirty location with a lot of dust. I have a small setup so I would like to work on with the dust cover always on. I am looking for something like a little transparent tent that I can put my hands in it to control the laptop. Let me know if you can refer me to any product similar to my description. Thanks
  14. Hi I am trying to put together a simple set-up with a boom into the sound devices 302 that goes into the mbox to record in boom recorder. Simple yes indeed but my am trying to adjust the 1k at 0Vu on the sound device with the boom recorder at -12 or -18 ddb but I can't because the mbox input levels are at the minumum and it peaks in boom recorder at 0dbfs. The only way I can reduce the level is to press the pad button at the back of the mbox but it's at -22.5dbsf so it is not accurate enough. I think I can attenuate the XLR output level on the 302. I'll try that for now and see...
  15. Thanks I forgot about the ''coding'' of the template I wrote juste the projet name in that window at first now everything runs smootly!
  16. What do you guys think of the Alesis Multimix 16 using the Boom Recorder software for independent/Budget work?
  17. What kind of filename template does it require? Boom Recorder does increment the take number automatically each time I record a new take...
  18. I am doing some test with Boom recorder (BR) for a shoot and I have experienced some minor issues. My set-up is MacBook Pro with Mbox-Mini recording onto the internal drive also mirrored on an external firewire 800 drive as a back-up. It happens often that BR is telling methat the recording aborted when I am pressing the record button. It says: "could not open file 0 with file name ..., file exists" I have tried different thing and nothing seems to fix that issue, after one or two record files the same message reappears again. How to set-up a simple one wireless and one boom recorded into internal and external mirrored firewire hard disk?
