Herbert Verdino
Hi. I just bought an MKH 8040 and an adapter cable, to connect the 8040 directly to an mic pre amp via XLR, without the MZX 8000. My question: Is the MZX 8000 only a XLR adapter, or is there some electronic inside as well? Does the MKH 8040 work the same without the MZX 8000? Thanks Herbert

chrismedr
Hi Herbert, ignore mr grumpy that never adds anything worthwhile himself.. the MZX 8000 is just an XLR connector, so if you have another connector that works with your gear (like the rycote MZL connbox) or you solder one yourself you don't need it. hope that helps chris

Herbert Verdino
Thank you all! I am impressed, Senator, that you know, that Austria is near by Germany, but that makes the Sennheiser support not better Best!

Herbert Verdino
I use the mic for the rear channel, on my double ms boom. The adapter cable goes in a Rycote con box.
Herbert Verdino
...answer from Sennheiser Austria: "the MZX 8000 is an electronically passive unit, but works as an RF filter. Using the MKH 8040 with the MZX 8000 minimizes the risk of RF influences and HF interferences. Free translated by Herbert Verdino

Herbert Verdino
Don't know, ask Sennheiser if the support guy is in pain for answering...
Wandering Ear
I use the mic for the rear channel, on my double ms boom. The adapter cable goes in a Rycote con box. Are you using the stereo wind basket with this setup? I'm wondering if there is enough clearance, and if you've noticed reduced wind performance in the rear Mic being so close to the basket? Herbert Verdino
I will do my first documentary with this setup during may - june. I can tell you after it, how well it performed...

Herbert Verdino
Becoause it is now closer to the MKH30 and there are no Rycote clamps in frond of it. Maybe if I would have the old shock mount system with the ring and the rubber bands in it, I would mount it to the MKH60
Glen Deakin
I had to single clips an mkh to 19mm riveted together to make a double clip. Will post a picture of it when I get back home. Could be done. 25mm to 19mm Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
