Trey LaCroix CAS Posted May 3 Report Posted May 3 Does anyone know what happened to Sound & Picture Magazine? Did they stop publishing? I haven’t seen a new one in a long time and I can’t even find link to old ones which had some fantastic interviews and articles. It would be a real shame if they weren’t archived somewhere. Quote
Jim Feeley Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Nothing on their social accounts in over three years. Website gives nada. So I'm guessing they're gone. And ya, I don't see an archive. I was a magazine editor for a dozen years, and a magazine writer for a few more years. It's a tough business, especially these last 15 years, both in print and online. Quote

Ontariosound Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 Physical magazines have really dwindled. For many years I bought Mix Magazine, EQ, Home & Studio Recording, Canadian Musician, Professional Sound every month. Have not purchased any of these in about 15 years...... Quote
Rick Reineke Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 i still get "Mix" in the mail (USPS) which includes 'Pro Sound' (sort of). I used to get dB, EQ and all the others when I was a recording studio engineer in the 70s & 80s. Quote
The Immoral Mr Teas Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 I'm pleased I hung on to a few years of Audio Media which are now in storage and have some interesting articles, interviews and product articles - and it's a pity I didn't download all the pdf issues as back up when they were available and free to do so. Since then the magazine changed publishers a couple of times, became much smaller though still useful especially on a product front, but all the previous publisher's copies became unavailable online. I still (until recently at least) got sent physical copies then the physical copies turned into just online - despite half a dozen requests to continue getting the real thing. The online copies were quickly browsed but barely read - only if something really caught my attention. Products and adverts suffered most from this - advertisers take note. When I take a tea break or finish for the day I have little intention of opening another program to read and scroll through tiny writing whilst trying to refer to the polar pattern diagram on the next virtual page. Just isn't worth it. I know kids don't mind, but kids don't tend to spend 2k on their mic cabinet... A bit of a contradictory rant there, so I'll continue the contradiction by asking if anyone knows of an archive source for the earlier generation (say 15 to 20 years ago) of Audio Media, a good bunch of which, if not all, were made available as pdfs not requiring annoying page-turning / indexing type reading software.
