  1. Your pain is definitely shared. It's just the way it has been for the last decade and will be for the foreseeable future. Condensed budgets lead to condensed shooting schedules. Probably best to look on the bright side of being able to provide for the wife and little ones.
  2. It's in the recordings from the TRX. I'm using a COS11 but tried it also with a tram and B6 with the same results. Unfortunately I don't have the DPA yet. It does it with nothing plugged in and changing the mics hasn't made any difference, although tech support says that the plugging a mic in should make it quieter, which it does not. It does not change when I adjust the gain on the TRX. I can't send a sample yet, but will when I wrap.
  3. I called but I'm shooting a series currently and they won't send a loaner. That's really a drag... I've really grown to appreciate the recorder function since we're shooting in close proximity to 3 airports and several military bases.
  4. That's the same conclusion I'd come to... Was hoping someone had the same problem with bad firmware or something. I'll send it in. Thanks for the feedback. Tracey
  5. I've got a strange issue with my 900LT in that it's producing a consistent noise that sounds reminiscent of dropped least significant bits on the A to D. I've tried switching freqs and it's the same across the spectrum. Any thoughts? I'm recording to a 744T but the problem only shows up once the transmitter is turned on, even when there's no mic plugged in. Plugging in the mic doesn't seem to make a difference in the noise. The receiver on its own is perfectly quiet. It's still usable but not as pristine as I'm used to. Any ideas welcome.
  6. Did you ever find a resolution to this? I've got a Kensington 8GB that is doing the same thing. It wouldn't show up in the 900lt until I first formatted it on the mac with FAT using Disk Utility. It then showed up in the TRX and I was able to format it. But on letting it run, it drops out of record even though it shows 49 hours left of recording. I just updated to the latest firmware posted up on the user group. My 2 GB Transcend card seems to work fine... Tracey
  7. This is the tool: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/358223-REG/TecNec_850008_BNC_Connector_Removal_Tool.html For a video engineer, it's worth its weight in gold, particularly for routers. Haven't touched the thing since I saw the (record) light and switched to sound.
  8. Thanks very much for the post Glenn! I've been saved several times from drop outs by the on-transmitter card recording. It's a safety net that was the main incentive for my purchase and I'll be adding several more to my kit. When are we going to see quantum entangled devices? ;-) Thanks again. T
  9. I'd hate to be the post mixer on this. "You can fix that with EQ, right?" No. No I can not...
  10. Interesting/scary post - particularly as I sit working through an all-nighter for the second day. I work both sides of the fence, location and post - often for the same project. When I'm shooting a series, I often end up doing location during the day and post through the night due to the tight schedules. BTW, is there a link to the 60 minutes clip somewhere? The original link is down and I looked on Youtube and only found a 3 minute web teaser. I'm fairly appalled to hear that after 6 days of four hours sleep a night they had developed a pre-diabetic condition. I'd hate to think what 15 years of four hours (or significantly less) has done to me. No use making money if the process kills you before you can enjoy it. Tracey
  11. I'd switched it to both auto and manual in trying to make the record button work. Maybe that was the issue and when I updated the firmware it reverted back to the factory default and popped into record. I'll definitely look forward to an update manual that addresses the LTs specifically! :-) I ordered the push/pull connector, so maybe I'll be ok. I'll report in when everything shows up and I try to get it all working. I'm not sure if I'll need to pad the 744ts Ambient TC output, so that'll be something fun to play with. ;-) Take care and thanks for the response.
  12. I used to build Lemo machine control cables years ago - before I had the good sense to know better - and got fairly good at it, or at least I didn't ruin many connectors... :-) Hopefully someone will chime in about the necessity of the tool. Take care! T
  13. BTW, any one know if you NEED the $200 assembly tool for the 3 pin Lemo connector (DCL.91.516.5TK for those who are curious), or if it's just a handy thing to have but not necessary? Thanks in advance. Tracey melodiousthunk.net
  14. Sweet! Thanks! When I flipped it on it said STOP so I dove into the menu and the other buttons. This time, I just waited and it went to REC. Thanks very much for the help! Tracey melodiousthunk.net
  15. Thanks RB! I think I found a link to the 3 pin, although it's $20/connector. Take care and thanks again! Tracey melodiousthunk.net
  16. Thanks for responding Glenn. Is there a way to start recording? I've formatted the card as instructed. Tried pressing the record button while on the transport page and the home page with no luck. Read the manual and only starting by way of jamming was addressed. Also did a scan of the pdf to see if it was addressed somewhere other than the recording section. No dice. I've got the latest firmware posted on the website. Thanks in advance. 17. Quick LT question: Can you manually go into record without jamming timecode? I've got the TC cable on order (shame I can't find a cable that'll directly link my 744t to the LT) but I'm shooting before it arrives and would like the security of having everything recorded on the device. There's a record key, but I can't make it actually record nor does the manual say anything about recording without jamming TC. Can't wait for an LT manual to come out... The trx800/900 combo manual isn't terribly fantastic. BTW, does anyone know a source for the Lemo connectors - both the 3 pin fvb.00 and the 5 pin FGB.0B? I'd love to build a cable so as to not need 2 cables to do the job.
