Jay Rose Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 Tomorrow's Times has a 32 minute selection of fascinating sfx bgs from around the world (like, rats singing harmonies on NYC streets). It talks over -- a lot -- but there are also some very well recorded stereo tracks where the reporter and experts shut up. If you click "I don't have print version", the piece is broken down to shorter clips with images. If you click "I have print" you get the same sounds and dialog, but as a long file with location slider. Quote
Christian Spaeth Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 Amazing! Great example of how sound can take us very far away and immerse us (especially if no moving pictures are involved...) Thanks for the share Jay! Quote
ronmac Posted September 23, 2018 Report Posted September 23, 2018 Jay, thanks for the link! I just spent a very enjoyable 30 minutes with a cup of coffee on a lazy Sunday morning listening to some very interesting sounds, complete with images. Our world is a very intriguing place. The details below our usual focus are vast and, to me, very humbling. Quote
Johnny Karlsson Posted September 23, 2018 Report Posted September 23, 2018 Thanks, Jay! Really enjoyed this. Quote
Dave Rainey Posted September 24, 2018 Report Posted September 24, 2018 really cool! I enjoyed that very much, thanks for sharing! Quote
Benjamin Posted October 15, 2018 Report Posted October 15, 2018 This is very interesting and portends much from NYT and its paperless future. I do wish there were more sections of longer form, non-dialogue sections. Quote
Izen Ears Posted October 15, 2018 Report Posted October 15, 2018 Exactly. I’ve often longed for 12 and 24 hour long recordings, or even a week long field recordings! Quote
