Adam Aslan Posted April 21 Report Posted April 21 What are the biggest firmware leaps you have made in terms of upgrades? I bought a QRX200 and 2 TRXLA3 with ancient firmware and wondering how bad of an idea it is to upgrade them on my own vs sending them in to Zaxcom Quote
John Blankenship Posted April 21 Report Posted April 21 There should be no issues -- their firmware is designed so the end user can easily do it. Just carefully follow the update instructions step-by-step and you'll be fine. Note what the update instructions state about previous versions. There is a point way back in firmware history that requires a transmitter to visit the mothership, but that information is clearly laid out and yours may not go back that far. Also, there was a point with the QRX200 that you needed to install an intermediate version in order to apply the latest. However, it's possible you won't encounter that earlier version either. No need to go to the trouble and expense when you can easily do it yourself. If you're good at following directions without the compulsion to ignore and improvise, all will be fine. Quote
Adam Aslan Posted April 21 Author Report Posted April 21 Yeah that was my impression as well but a tech at Zaxcom told me to send the TRX in. Quote
sciproductions Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Unless it states it in the new firmware notes that you're current firmware is too old then you're fine, otherwise yes you'd need to send it in to Zaxcom. Quote
ProSound Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 I would call Zaxcom and ask since your so close to them in NJ I would drive over and have them update. Quote
Ontariosound Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 I sent my TRX 900 Stereoline transmitter in to Zaxcom for servicing last year. Owned new since 2006. They replaced the worn out rubber keypad and put a new lens on the display. Zaxcom also updated the firmware/software. Great job by the technician. So I believe that there are unadvertised updates to Zaxcom legacy products. Quote
