  1. I'm back at it again but I'm focusing on my 69 Riley first since I promised my little girl her car will be ready soon (she's only 5 so Dad gets to enjoy it for a while before passing it down). I have two other projects (54 Chevy Truck & 53 Bel Air Hard Top) that are waiting in line. Since the thread use to be called "Mike's 53 Chevy Build" I figured a new name would best so that I can include all my projects instead of starting multiple threads. First, I gotta say that I have a few quirks: 1. I love old cars 2. When I look at them I can't help but see a diamond in the rough. 3. I can be a little OCD on my restorations. With that said, I started tearing the 69 Riley apart a couple weeks ago. I could have just left it the way I bought it since it was getting me around town just fine. However, i noticed a little bit of chipped paint on the trunk and a few other places in which the paint was starting to crack. This drove me a bit crazy since I knew I was left well no other option but to do a frame up restoration. Well, that's how I justify it in my mind anyways. I didn't have an engine hoist handy so I improvised by using my punching bag hanger and winch puller. Thankfully the engine and trans in this little car only weighs around 300 pounds. No spot left undone! I took out the front and rear subframes so that I can build them with new components. Almost ready for sandblasting. Since I took off my wheels I had to build a frame so that the body can be rolled around.
  2. Very good point. I see how this would be beneficial to read so that one fully understands the risks involved. Sorry Rich Reilly, I didn't mean to trip like that. My bad.
  3. Congrats Phil and to all those mentioned in your list!
  4. I find it quite respectable that they would close their doors in observance of their religion.
  5. How are those open slot covers coming along? Also, in regards to the RX12 and its advertised functions, it would be great if an RX-12 to Nomad cable* was included with the unit. Or, being given a bit more notice that you would have to make your own in order to take advantage of the RX-12's functionality, more specifically being able to: "Pair the RX-12 with Nomad 10 or Nomad 12 and ZaxNet will re-frequency your transmitters to match with the touch of a button. In addition, the RX-12 and Nomad combo allows for quick and easy TRX gain adjustments." *Special thanks to Wandering Ear for making the custom cable I needed to make this work.
  6. Sorry, I haven't been here for a while. I can post a video later this week.
  7. I don't see why not. My brother is a Shop Foreman for Toyota and is now considering moving over to Tesla. I was talking to him about this over the weekend and he mentioned that all Tesla vehicles communicate with the mothership and advise of tech issues/etc. before the driver may be aware of it. Apparently Toyota purchased some of their battery technology so every once and a while they'll get a call from Tesla advising them one of their Prius vehicles needs to be called in for service. I guess the direction they're heading is to have cars drive themselves. I can see how Apple would want to jump on something like this. Just think, we could be sipping on Martini's and watching Netflix in the car. Or even better, we can be on JWsoundgroup.net while heading to the next gig. Bringing us one step closer to everyone being patched into the network and eventually becoming one of these. HAHA (ok, its a stretch. I know)
  8. I totally get the whole "use your ears" way of doing it. However, I'm hoping that all of us try to do our job to the best of our ability and if we notice something then we would correct it, right? Well, when I visited Henchman when he was mixing a show I was able to clearly hear how one mic may have been bad. I mean, it really did sound terrible. So, that got me to thinking that maybe, just maybe, the mixer wasn't able to hear it on his headphones whereas in a studio it was plain as day. Heck it could have even been a bad transmitter or other piece of gear. My point is that using one's ears may not be full proof. Or, maybe that mixer really did know the mic was bad but didn't really care enough to fix it? Who knows? Either way, I just want to be sure I don't poop on the next guy when I turn my files in. I think RPSharman has a good point. If LSC or any of the other dealers provided this as a service then I would surely be delighted to take my mics in and most likely end up buying a whole bunch of other stuff while I'm waiting.
  9. I heard it from Harlowsound. Case closed.
  10. From what I was told the money was finally returned.
  11. It's located in my profile. The anyone interested, and to all those who have already contacted me, I'm going to close this out tonight since I have quite a bit of people inquiring. Thanks a lot to all those who replied. I will forward your info to the producer.
  12. Nope. I try not to discuss pay. I usually leave that up to you and your negotiation skills.
  13. A friend of mine is looking for a new sound guy for the Cops TV Show. Yes, lets just be clear about this right now. The last sound guy was killed while working on the show. So, anyone wanting to do this job will have know that real danger is part of the job. With that said, if you're still interested then please PM/email me your contact info, gear list, and resume and I'll forward top candidates to my friend. More about the job: You start in March and go through Thanksgiving. You work 8 weeks on and have 1 week off. All travel expenses paid for. I'm assuming you should be in good physical shape and able to run run run after the action. We've all seen the show, so I think you know what I'm talking about. I may do a few days when they're shooting in LA or Vegas but can't commit to this long of a job cause of the wife and kids so I'm passing it along to the fine peeps on this web forum. Please reply asap as they are scouting for the next sound guy right now. This is a steady paycheck for 8 months at a time and from what I hear they hardly have job openings. In fact, some of the camera guys on the show have been with the production since the show first came out.
  14. that's kind of what I was interested in seeing too.
  15. I think that's the ticket. I'm going to make it a point to listen to my lavs on good speakers and really crank them up
  16. This was brought up yesterday. Yes, they do. If they can get a clean boom track for room ambience then that'll save them tons of time trying to recreate it.
  17. Yes, I assumed the same thing. However, after speaking to a post sound mixer I was able to learn how some lav issues may not be quite apparent to the mixer. Yet, when being heard in a post-sound session you can clearly hear how a lav may not be quite optimal anymore.
  18. What do you do to make sure your lavs are still working properly when they've been in production for a while? Is there a certain test that can be done? Or a gizmo that will test the lav for you?
  19. Yep, "fly-by-night" is right. Based on his current business practices, and apparent lack of knowledge on producing a show, he's sure to find himself facing a few more lawsuits aside from mine.
  20. Thanks for all the info that people sent to me. I was able to get a hold of one of the best entertainment business attorney's in the nation! I'm totally pumped about this.
  21. Anyone have recommendations for a good attorney? I need to go after a client for not paying me for a week's worth of work and sticking me with travel expenses. Not sure if it matters but I'm in CA, the job was in Virginia, and the contract they sent me was from Arizona.
