  1. That's the entire point of Trumpness.
  2. It's not all set up for these pics. I keep the RX in my bag with a Nomad. When I pull the bag out to use as a drop or in tight spots, I only have to swap the 2 RX antenna cables from the masts over to whips (or bowties) on the bag, plus plug in power to the bag battery instead of the cart DC source. I use D-tap batteries and my cart is wired with D-tap power takeoffs so that's a quick swap too. I've been using ERX for on-set motioring and hops, so I also have a big 2.4GHz antenna mounted on the cart with an amp. I swap that cable to an in-bag 2.4 antenna and go (2.4 TX is built into Nomad). It 's straightforward to reconfigure the cart with rack-mount RX but I haven't so far needed more than I can keep in a bag, and that makes things seamless. Though a better solution will soon be a separate bag so nothing has to come apart and go back together.
  3. I've had no reliability problems with it.
  4. I needed a little cart to run small features that I could roll up easily into my Honda hatchback, and I ended up building this 12RU a couple years ago. Under 75lbs with power distro, lift mechanism works on 24vdc so I mount 2 of my V-mounts in series just for that when shore power AC is unavailable. Chargers and batts usually live in trays in the downunder. I was concerned it might feel top heavy but it's remarkably stable at full height (especially when the tires aren't flat from storage... changing those out now to airless). I'm also moving the two masts to the center of each side instead of over the tires so they tuck lower and don't add to the height when it's in storage mode. My bag with RX (not pictured) jumps in and out through the back as needed, BNC and N bulkhead mast mounts are in the fiberglass right above it. No cables pass through the doors, which can come off / go on in any height position. I also put extra video monitors on the back side to keep scripty from looming over my shoulder when video village wasn't happening fast enough. video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/rQz7WqkStLanKjMX6
  5. Thanks Daniel! Coolio Rado. My big boy cart is similar to that (fiberglass rack case) but it goes up and down to help me work the rack face.
  6. Can it possibly beat today's 1440 doc rig?
  7. that picture makes my back hurt.
  8. Ohh I dunno. I think contemporary sound cart design is just right for 1970-00s location audio tech...
  9. ...ooooh, you're saying the quiet part out loud again. We're all thinking it but don't want to sound smug....
  10. Those stop signs are there to keep us all safe Rado...
  11. I have a sheet metal brake and shear to build my own aluminum drawers and shelves. It's really the choice of drawer slider mechanism that adds weight.
  12. You are weird. FWIW I mercilessly route my cables into as tiny a parcel as reason will allow. So right angle connectors on everything, and spares with me always. But it's not a bad scene and I rarely have any cable troubles. It all fits cleanly into a bag like this one. I used a small Orca framed bag for a while but getting at all the right spots was more of a production than just sliding my packed-up unit in and out of a neat little bag.
  13. Sweet. My home-sewn bag has been going a bit overtime after 8 years of service. Might try these out in Khaki Green and Silver Grey to see if one of them sticks.
  14. Feelworld has some at 2200 and 3000 nits, but I only see 300nits in their rack mount units. Maybe they assume rack gear doesn't go outside...
  15. 1 candela/meter² [cd/m²] = 1 nit [nt] so 300 nits
  16. My next trick will be a pull-out drawer unit like this, but hopefully brighter: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1709229-REG/feelworld_sc173_hd_56_17_3_1ru_pull_out.html I've been plenty happy with my cheapo FeelWorld T51 Triple 5", though these are smaller than what you're wanting.
  17. I've bought these cables from Gotham and now Trew and they work great, if a little pricey. I saw some from China on ebay for $30 and ordered a couple. The Chinese ones give bad hiss and don't work right. I haven't had a minute to open them up and test. Someone at Trew told me the cable requires a resistor in-line somewhere, which the cheaper ebay ones won't have. The ZMT4 manual says nothing about resistors: Wiring is straight 1:1. Anyone know more about this situation? Am I just getting badly wired cables from China, or is there some detail being handled differently?
  18. Thanks for that info Pete. Since microdots are working for ZMT-X and ZMT-Flex, can they not also be incorporated into future ZMT(5) models?
  19. I just saw the ZMT4-X announcement with dual microdot connectors. Think this is to make room for dual connectors, or is anyone expecting Zax to go with microdot on other transmitters going forward? I believe I would prefer a microdot to those lovely but difficult to solder 00 Lemos. Can my ZMT4 TXs be retrofitted? Sean
  20. That's what Glenn specified to do in this forum. I agree, sounds weird. But I think he said the boot order can possibly cause a hangup if there is a difference in the power supplies.
  21. Hello, I just picked up a used Mix-8 and am having trouble configuring my Nomad 12T (v7.81) to respond to it. I power up Nomad first, then Mix-8. USB cable into the Serial port. Mix-8 LEDs light up and respond to faders. All of my Nomad’s internal faders are unassigned. External Faders 1-4 are set to analog 1-4. In Mode menu, I see no Mix-8 or Mix-12 related options. Can anybody offer help? Or did I maybe just buy one that isn’t working? Thank you for any help, Sean
  22. Yes, I did send an email to Zaxcom through their web form. I'm not super encouraged about support for gear that has disappeared off the bottom of their obsolete list, but hopefully someone can dig up a receiver manual for me there. The set is in great condition, works nicely between itself at least, and seems a nice way to add a couple more wireless mics should I ever need to fatten my bag.
  23. Interesting. My QRX100s are all in block 20, my Goldlines are in 22. I have a QRX200 wide-band that covers it, but I can't get a signal to connect in Mono or Stereo mode. I have the TX set to Mono and Ch 630. QRX200 is on FMT Mono. Does anyone have a manual for the Digital ENG Receiver? The only Goldline manual that I'm finding here (from above links to Zaxcom site) are for the Transmitter.
  24. Yes, These are the Goldline series! Thank you all for the info. Now to spend some quality time with the manuals. I'll report back what I learn about cross-compatibility with the QRX.
  25. I picked up a couple of Zaxcom Wireless transmitters - the bodies are black aluminum, not much bigger than a TX900. Screens are made up of red LEDs. They each have two 4-pin lemo connectors. Can anyone help me find a manual or more info on these guys? I also got an accompanying receiver, same block (22) and same vintage. It all works great together. Is it possible to receive from these TX to my modern QRX? Thanks for any insights! Sean
