  1. James, is that a custom cut screen protector or does it come with the kit when purchased?
  2. Yeah, Russell, I saw that it doesn't come with a strap which I found a little odd. I guess they assume that most people have their own harnesses or the like.
  3. With all the mention of different bags on offer for the 633, has any one tried out the Porta Brace bag that comes with the kit version. While I'm not much of a fan of their bags, it looks like this one has a better design.
  4. Thanks Rakesh, well done! Just bought it and have a multi cam shoot tomorrow so will try it out.
  5. Has anyone used the Zaxcom QRX system on the c300 with double system timecoded recording on a 552? I know the camera doesn't have power out so I use a Tenergy Li-ion 14.8v 2600mAh to run the receiver. I have my first shoot with one next week and this is the system I'm proposing to production as all they initially have requested (typically ignorant) is a mixer, boom and 2 wireless mics.
  6. The team at Timecode buddy http://www.timecodebuddy.com/default.asp have just won the IABM Innovation and design award at the IBC. Kudos guys, you deserve it!
  7. Thanks for that guys. What I did was create a separate invoice just with sundry expenses and sent that onto them. I'm in South Africa and the production company is in UK which is why I'm having to do all of this on my own. What I was curious to find out from you guys is the fact that for the best part of a day, I'm running around sorting the visa's etc out and am not able to work so I though it fair to bill production a half day for my time. Do you think this is acceptable? Is there a norm for pre production baring in mind this is for a documentary and not a feature or commercial. Retrospectively, I should have discussed this with the company before the shoot kicks off and will do it next time but am curious to find out whether it is standard to charge a little extra for the trouble.
  8. Thanks Pat. I totally understand but I did it this time as it's a company I've worked for before and the're good for it. I would never do this type of thing with a company I didn't know or trust.
  9. I need to run something past you all. If you've been asked to pay up front for various bits and bobs for an upcoming production (Anti malaria tablets, vaccinations, visa's, consumable batteries, basic sundries etc) which they naturally reimburse once you've added them onto your invoice after the shoot, do you add a bit onto each item as a type of commission or add an overall "admin fee" for the running around to get the stuff? Further on that, if you've been asked to purchase your own airline ticket (via credit card), do you charge a bit extra for doing that too? Sebastian
  10. Non-foldability- A deal breaker for me too! Great pity. I'm due for a replacement pair but might buy a few extra 7506's in case stocks run dry.
  11. I had a guy the other day who's heart beat was so loud, I could pick it up on the boom! It was his first time on camera and he was nervous beyond belief. The interview was in Arabic which I don't speak but I could tell when he was about to talk because his heart would start racing. The lav mic was a total no no! A first for me!
  12. Well, from what I can see from all the posts, there is an unavoidable multi pronged approach to dealing with the RF bleed in the bag. Though not the silver bullet we are all hoping for, it's a help to getting a cleaner signal. in summary.... 1- Separate the TRX900/STA150 from the receivers in the bag as far as possible. 2- Use an RF screening pouch- Glenn, is this a viable option to have these stitched up and made available to us that are having these "Bleeding" issues. 3- Ferrite filters on the DC and audio cables (yes/no!) 4- EMC XLR's (not available in all countries) Any other tips or corrections to add to the summary are welcome! Lets collectively end the RF bleeding battle. Solidarity my audacious audio brothers and sisters!!
  13. Thanks for that John. I've put in a 'Notify me' request for both modules too.
  14. Nice idea John. I'm quite handy with a soldering iron so will definitely go that route.
  15. Thanks for the reply Joel I was hoping that wasn't the case although I suppose I kind of knew it! My mic isn't the "D" version so reluctantly might have to bin it.
  16. Hi guys I have a COS 11 that's intermittently crackly at the mic end (just where the cable enters the capsule) which tells me the cable is on it's way out. Has any one had the same problem and cut and rewired from that end or does this mean the demise of said mic? Is the cable moulded into the capsule and therefore irreparable or can I breath new life into it. The mic isn't that old and want to avoid buying another one if I can possibly help it.
  17. So Tom, I'm a bit confused! As I have 7.30, does that mean I need to install 7.30a, b, c etc as I live in South Africa and don't really want to send my unit back to the factory.
  18. I see that Zaxcom has just released their new batch of firmware (http://www.zaxcom.com/software-updates) and it got me thinking. I have firmware 7.30 on my TRX900 and I see that subsequently, there has been 7.30a through to the current 7.30f. Will the latest firmware contain ALL the previous updates or do I install every update separately? I guess this question would apply to all devices that require firmware updates.
  19. Is there space to fit a budget haggling producer? Somewhere where the sun don't shine too much!
  20. I second that! Looks like timecode buddy going to be a game changer and the price fits your budget constraints. The first roll out off the production line will be the 19th March in the UK but will hit the US shores soon I'm sure.
