    Dolly track wedges? D.

    Large Boom pole case

    Never mind D.
  3. Have 'em clap stix and tell them the audio will be on the files that you'll deliver at the end of the day. D.

    Lavs for ties

Hey David. Even today (or not too many years ago anyway) I got away on a lot of TV episodes putting a B6 in a tie knot. It hid in the shadows and even the B (or C and D) cameras on the ECU didn't see it. The more cameras they put up, the less I cared D.

    Lavs for ties

Let that baby stick out a bit. No one but the DP is ever gonna see it, and that is because he is looking from 10" away. I would always say, if someone was seeing the lav in the tie, the rest of you guys weren't doing your jobs very well. Well, except for sound guys. I'm ALWAYS looking and the giant pimple under a t-shirt drives me nuts. Oh and don't even think of pushing it up in the knot just before we roll Ms. Wardrobe. I'll cut off your fingers. D.

    Favorite PA Demo Songs?

Allen, haha! I remember it well. House crew putting up the steel barricades while we were ringing out the FOH. Clatter and din. D.

    Chinese "Lemo" Connectors

What's the experience with these? Just built a Lemo-to-Lemo for a friend and he gasp at the final price. If the Chinese (eBay) 5-pins work okay, it may be worth a look-see. D.

    Cos11 Re-terminating

I used to never be able to afford a taxi so I always took the train (subway). Yep, put the wire in a blob of hot solder and the enamel will burn away. It does take practice but works well. My favorite dikes? Xuron Micro-Shear® Flush Cutter with ESD Safe Hand Grips Not expensive. D.

    New Betso Wireless Timecode

Man it's a great relief to be retired. If a camera "operator" said "no" to a Lockit for a dolly mounted camera, I would say "no timecode for you, bitch" and walk away. I would probably limit my days of employment with that attitude but I wouldn't care. I'm retired! D.
  10. I, for one, think that puck sounds best when mixed on Pyramix. Well, classical punk at least. D.

Schoeps CMC gold plating on XLR

I believe (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the gold plate in the bottom of the XLR connector in the mic on the left is merely a press-in addition. Give Redding Audio a call and see if they might just be able to send you one to install yourself. D. And yes, it serves, at least in theory, the help keep RFI at bay. D.

Sound Devices MP-1 Mic Transformer Replacement

As well, you would be hard pressed to find a better transformer than the Lundahl. My guess is that it is broken/cold solder joint/loose. I might flip the board over and touch a hot iron to all the transformer pads and re-flow the solder. If it's a cold joint, that would fix it. Easy-peesy and probably worth the time since you have it open. Oh, and it's rare (but not impossible) for a transformer to go "bad". D.

Advice on MKH 8040s and 8050s

How about an old school MKH50? I am not sure if there is anything about the 8050 that is different. I have no experience with that mic. But the MKH50 has great "reach" indoors and was my go-to interior dialog mic for years. I used Schoeps Mk41s for a long time but the MKH50 blew it away in terms of both tone and "reach." YMMV D.

    Second degree encounters

I took a CMX Video Editing course around that time. I was REALLY bad at it D.
