  1. Stole the acronym right out of my fingertips.... 1:30 made me laugh though.
  2. http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/musical_instruments/detail_pages/c26-BLUE-B000EOPQ7E-2-sm.jpg xD
  3. Agreed. This was honestly a really awesome read. Although I doubt I'll be trying any of his tactics any time soon.
  4. Woah. Lol well I'm glad that got sorted out. Having that option is a definite plus for me, though. I haven't decided if I want to buy it yet... although I do want one. Mixers dictate 90% of the gear I use anyways. Thanks!
  5. Awesome! I've never used one before... not sure how I missed that in the stuff I've read. Thanks!
  6. A little late to this party. Oh well. Does anyone have insight on the option to have direct feed from the boom in one ear, and the mix in the other ear?
  7. I think he squished his lav. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLrnkK2YEcE
  8. Most definitely! I think the concept is intended to maintain the mentality that not everything can be fixed. Crap happens. Work through the bumps on your own, so when you get to the big hills, everyone else will still work with you to solve the issues.
  9. Pretty sure that's an ME-66... He needs to brush his softie. XD
  10. So it IS possible, just hard to do? Sounds like a challenge.
  11. Oh hey! Look who it is. lol. Valid point. I guess I'm also looking at it as identification in case something of mine gets lost. They're also placed where people are more likely to see them. I figure if someone doesn't have the QR scanner, then I'll them to get with the times haha.
  12. Haha! +1 to this. An awesome mixer that I work for once called situations like these "Gimme"s. Like extra lives in Mario or whatever. We only get so many in a day, and then only so many again for the production. Gauging whether or not we can have the producer/director/AD "Gimme" that extra take is something to be rationed. Use up too many in a day, and the folks up top won't listen when you REALLY need that genny moved or there was a stupidly scratchy lav.
  13. 9001 internet points to Patrick.
  14. And that's exactly what I have been doing; super helpful. I'm also currently working on credits to join the union. So I have a strong incentive to get legitimate, paying work. Suffice to say, proper work doesn't come from Facebook.
  15. Then consider yourself blessed. It's what happens when you're dealing with people who have never worked a union show before in their life. They're the ones who make the CL posts from hell. I'm still trying to shake those types of "filmmakers" off... ecgh. I also doubt it's really that present in LA.
  16. Ok, so is you're saying it's impossible to modify the replacement antenna to match the TX? Also, I believe OP was asking about modifications to extend the wireless range. Basically, replacing a dude's arm with a kickass robot arm with super-strength; as opposed to simply sewing on a transplant.
  17. It can be helpful for content destined for YouTube. Anything web-based. The people you work with on those types of projects are more likely to rely on social media for business purposes. However, I find it EXTREMELY annoying when someone thinks that Facebook can be a replacement for proper, professional business communication. When I see the neophyte filmmaker trying to send out callsheets in group chat, making Facebook groups for dept./production, using messages and posts to disseminate production info.... I take it as a very bad sign. It's a stupidly faulty system and the bane of many small time productions. Of course, I still use it to keep in touch with people I've worked with before. Simply as a way of keeping a presence so I'm less likely to be forgotten when someone is hiring. After a production, I'll go through the crew roster and search people that I got along with and were professional. As far as personal websites go: If you're going to have one, get a pro to design it for you. As with nearly everything in our industry, you get what you pay for. I die a little inside when I'm subjected to a poorly designed site that looks/feels like it was made in 2001. Also, not a bad idea to make the site easily accessible via mobile.
  18. I really want to know more about him... any idea as to which issue the interviews were in? Or maybe who was interviewing. Currently sifting through online archives of each of the above listed magazines/journals.
  19. Ecgh. I'm not subscribed to those. I'll soon fix this. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
  20. Laconic. I'm interested in this. Senator, do you have any insight on a solution for this?
  21. My internet skills are to no avail... link to the interview(s)?
  22. Holy Moses.... My mind has been blown....
  23. I can think of several uses for this stuff on my own, but I'm curious how some of you guys use it. Any cool tips or tricks with it?
