EricL
I'm sure a lot of people have similar stories. Well Maybe. So I usually use my laptop in my living room on my coffee table and I usually wear headphones so I don't bother my girlfriend if she's watching TV. And since I have 7506 headphones in my kit why would I use anything else? So those are what I use. Last night me an my girlfriend were browsing online on the couch and no paying attention to anything else. So we stop browsing and i put the computer down and what do i see on the floor? I see this: Yes, lots of pieces. And the culprit? You gotta be kidding me? I really like those headphones, thanks for the $100 chew toy. Jeff Wexler
That's classic... I love the way you presented that. As I looked at the first images I was trying to figure out if I had ever had what appears to be this spontaneous decomposing of the Sony cable, and then... it all makes perfect sense. - JW
RPSharman
Funny. But now that you need new headphones...try the Beyerdynamic DT 250. I just bought a pair, and they were an easy adjustment from the old 7506. They are more comfortable, sound better, and block a little more ambient noise from your surroundings. But not too much. I'm very happy with them. Robert
Guest afewmoreyears
For $89.00 I'll stick with the durable, folding 7506's, They serve me well..... and I get a new pair at the beginning of each year..... Sound good enough for me....... And the metal headband style has never broken on me.... YET!!! Whats with the dog cage.... is that it's punishment...... looks like it..... Poor little dog..... a cage?
David Waelder
If you have them repaired (it's not difficult to get a replacement cable), be sure to save the remnants of that Sony mini-phone-1/4" convertible plug. They are quite expensive and yours looks salvageable. David Waelder

Poor little dog..... a cage? She sleeps in there willingly, it was for her crate training as a puppy and that's where she likes to sleep, along with our other 3 dogs But yes, i was planning on recabling it since there's nothing else wrong with it. Anyone have a resource for a replacement cable?
Bash
With ears like that it could only be a sound recordists dog!! I bet you wont do that again. Kindest regards, Simon B
David Waelder
But yes, i was planning on recabling it since there's nothing else wrong with it. Anyone have a resource for a replacement cable? I know that Location Sound normally stocks the cable. Call them (818-980-9891) and ask for Dave in parts. (http://www.locationsound.com/proaudio/ls/index.html) Most probably Coffey Sound (323-876-7525) would also have the part on hand. (http://coffeysound.com/home.php) Other likely sources would be Gotham Audio in New York and Trew Audio (http://www.trewaudio.com/) in Nashville. Marty Attias company in the Washington D.C. area, ATS Communications, is also a likely source. Audio Daddyo
Why replace the cable? Just solder on the connector of your choice. Another mini or a right angle mini which I've done or a 1/4 inch of that is what you prefer. You will have to scrape or burn off the laquer coating on the wire before you solder it. EricL
It's broken off right at the coil and i'd rather have the straight part at the connector, and that connector is good because you can screw on the 1/4". I'll give Gotham a shout. I've been in there a few times while in NYC. Was actually in there right before my first ever gig to get a couple lav wired for lectros. Awesome bunch of guys over there. jason porter
AFMY, don't worry about the dog...I am sure he/she is quite comfortable in it's home! Mine sleeps in her crate as well, and goes there whenever she wants some peace and quiet or to chew on a nice bone!! It's like a den, not a prison Her fave is any Rycote product!! Jeff Wexler
I love the fact that this thread has spawned the posting of DOG pictures since I am a real dog lover, always have been. We have a new puppy (well she's actually a year old now) named Emma --- Border Collie - Aussie Sheperd mix --- and she too loves her crate (it's not punishment at all). We do keep her somewhat controlled because she loves to chew things she shouldn't since she is still a puppy. No access to any equipment, thankfully, because she will be bored with her rope toy at any moment. - Jeff Wexler

Richard Lightstone, CAS
Okay "Sound Dogs" I have to sentimentally include photos of my (now passed) black Labrador, named "Fennerman". He was on the set with me all over North America for nine years. In fact he was part of my sound package. Damn, I miss him. RL
