Just thought some here - if not already aware - might like to hear about Rycote's new mics (following up on their two shotgun mics introduced last autumn), courtesy of Simon Clark's brief intro:

Having had three of the shotgun mics for the last year, I'm currently testing the supercardioid and cardioid models and, hopefully, the omni next week, so will post a link to test/review (with wav files) in due course. Impressed so far. Now, if there was to be a fig 8 too...!

Cheers,

Very interested in how the omnis and cardiods hold up compared to sennheiser 80 series, schoeps & dpa for ambience recording and durability. From what I heard about their shotguns, I have high hopes!

Can't find an MSRP in USD, seems like $600-700?

HC-22 $799 USD

HC-15 $779 USD

Is the HC-22 supposed to be like an 8060 and the HC-15 an MKH50?

Hello Roland how are you finding the HC-15? Specifically if used interior. Thanks

Well, to be honest I have used the HC-22 a lot more than the HC-15 over the last year and, in both cases, outdoors rather than indoors - almost always defaulting to a hypercardioid indoors. Which is why I was keen to get hold of the new Rycote supercardioid and see how well it inter-cuts with the shotguns (well is the short answer). But I did some tests indoors with the shotguns, such as this - musical - one in a workshop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evZysElsPAQ

SC-08 is very sensitive according to specs. Kind very close to Schoeps CMC 1 / MK41 & Sennheiser MKH 50 specs (in some areas) which I would like to try it some day.

It matches the specs as far as I can tell (for self-noise too), but do go by the mV/Pa fig in the current spec sheet for the SC-08 and the CA-08, as there is an obvious typo in the dB equivalent: I flagged this up to Rycote and it will be corrected asap.
