  1. Yeah, I'm with you on this. I'm watching Breaking Bad on Netflix and it's obviously heaviky processed but I dig that sound a lot. I think it has a certain "grit" that is pleasant to my ears. When I do dialouge myself I always try to get it as clean as possible but whenever something is just too much to handle that's often the lines I like the most. Weird maybe but I prefer the over-processed (and sometimes with an audible fade of bg noise) dialouge sound. It would be really interesting to hear what you guys would do to try and make clean audio recordings sound like old movie dialouge recorded on Nagra and mixed and edited on tape. I'm doing a short shot on 16mm that the director wants to sound like a movie recorded in the 80's with the subtle distortion and what not. Unfortunately they couldn't use a Nagra so I have very crisp clean recordings. Been using a lot of Waves Kramer Tape but I'd like some more suggestions. Maybe SoundToys Decapitator? Been thinking of purchasing that for some while.
  2. I've seen these kind of pictures for most departments now but not one for sound. So I decided to make some myself:
  3. So, any opinions on the nominees for best sound editing and mixing? Unfortunately out of the six movies nominated in those two categories, only three has had it's premiere in Sweden yet. I liked Drive a lot, I think it deserves more nominations really. I also really liked TGWTDT and I believe David Fincher deserves an Oscar for best directing. What I don't understand though is how TGWTDT is nominated for best mixing. Even though I would love to have a fellow swede get the award (Bo Persson at Europa Sound) I can't neglect the fact that a lot of the movie had pretty apparent issues with noise. I don't mind a noisy movie really but what caught my attention was the heavy gating used to "hide" the noise. That had the opposite effect on me as it really draw my attention to these problems instead of listening to what the actors had to say. This seems to only apply to the scenes shot in Sweden as far as I know. Any one else noticed this?
  4. More problems are showing up: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/post-production-forum/685080-red-epic-dropping-frames-causes-major-audio-headache.html Seems like the Epic drops frames on long shots because...I don't know really. Causes major pain in the a** for sync.
  5. He really sound like he's a part of Fleet Foxes, love his voice. Nice recording and to those who likes this music and sound, check out Fleet Foxes!
  6. Looks good, has it worked for you so far?
  7. I don't really have resolution but next year my plan is to move into doing more post and especially commercials.
  8. Myself I started with playing bass and that turned into music production and a lot of other instruments (including the didgeridoo). Music production eventually turned into films but I use a lot of my spare time writing atleast. How many of you feel you have damaged your hearing during band practice and gigs? I'm pretty certain my tinnitus, which comes and goes more and more often, is a result of spending all those hours between loud drums, guitar amps and pa speakers.....oh and all the screaming fans of course!
  9. First of all congratulations, that is awesome! Secondly, that trailer is also awesome and if the film is half as bad I believe you have great chance of winning!
  10. Shooting a television series in Sweden. In this shot we were acting out a bank robbery. It's always great fun booming while running or walking. Makes it more of a sport!
