  1. I've found that for the 788's mix assist to work well the inputs need to be trimmed very carefully to the same level. To me, it seems to fail the most with very dynamic speakers who change their volume dramatically from one sentence to the next. For example, non actors in a reality show... It's a neat tool, even if it's not perfect. I don't really understand the two modes the 788 provides though... Follow left right or the not. Even after reading the manual.
  2. Thanks for sharing. I would also like to hear the side of the story from the post team who dealt with all the various recordings and sources. Did it all lock up well with the Zaxnet timecode? Were there ever "zaxnet drop outs"? No one would notice those and they could potentially cause timecode issues. Just wondering if it's a good system for everybody down the chain.
  3. Funny story! What a bunch of knuckleheads! Sounds like you handled it brilliantly!
  4. You can use the results of the Sennheiser find frequencies page for any model of transmitter. It takes a little studying. The main thing is to look for patches of bandwidth that have the greatest signal attenuation (far right column) meaning the least amount of interfering transmission. Use those areas. It is not an intermodulation calculator. For that you'll have to use the lectro chart, FreqFinder, IAS, or just trial and error.
  5. It's impressive but seems over engineered to me. I think Apple's main incentive for developing this is to make it stand out as different and more special than Android and other phones. The common micro USB connector can do a lot too. Charge, exchange data, interface with other devices, share an internet connection, etc. Not trying to start a war, I just don't see the lightning connector being that fundamentally different. I will say that it is cool the plug will fit either way.
  6. Might be fun for a few minutes to be able to A/B the two mics and listen to the differences. Wouldn't want to actually work like that though.
  7. Agreed, hoping the Android update doesn't take too long!
  8. Single system works but they need to have the XLR input/ LCD viewer attachment installed.
  9. Sounds like Powerex is the preferred brand here for NiMH AAs. Any reasoning? Quality control? Consistent run times?
  10. I agree that it would be nice to have a more streamlined unit. Not sure my wallet would stomach the change out but I would consider it. My top requests would be the following: - Top mounted display with good backlight. - Top mounted buttons - Dedicated REC/STOP button/s - Single LED to indicate IFB reception status - All connectors on bottom of unit. - IFB reception ability as good or better than the ERX - Analog or AES stereo input. - Variable output power from 10mW-150mW - Built in FDP part - All RF and DC power issues resolved. - SMA antenna (death to the SSMA) - Locking input/output timecode connectors (BNC or TA maybe) - Ability to output timecode and IFB audio simultaneously - Excellent Timecode generator/reader with option to always display code on homescreen - Smaller than QRX / fits in Petrol side pouch Maybe a tall order... I also agree that the black Stereoline can still hold it's own. Are you guys using it with the RON page trick to disable the limiter?
  11. Learn to use this valuable and free tool provided by Sennheiser: http://www.sennheiserusa.com/findfrequency/default.asp
  12. I've been asking them for this for awhile now. I think it's pretty low on their to-do list. A shame though since it's such a valuable and basic feature (compared to some of their other features). On many reality shows Lectro's 'group tuning' mode is indispensable.
  13. And yes, there are many good alternatives to rolling on the zoom including recording on the camera, though I'm assuming you did this and the h4n was some sort of back up.
  14. The 9000 series all digital systems look very nice. Not sure how appropriate they would be for location sound. The RF power spec seems a little low. I know they're designed for studio use where more elaborate antenna systems will be used. Also I did not see any eng sized receiver for the product line.
  15. Thanks for the info david. ... I love that Sennheiser puts out another cardioid capsule but no figure eight yet!
  16. I truly don't understand all the Sven hate. I think it's a very creative solutionfor setting configurations on a digital/analog hybrid machine with no screen to look at. It sure beats looking at the cheat sheet every time! It's a huge time saver if you ask me. Anyway, back to the 664 talk!
  17. I doubt they'll see it here, you should email them or call with your request.
  18. Yes, the 552 has a feature to record mp3s with timecode recorded on one of the audio tracks using the timecode input.
  19. I also called SD: - 48k max sample rate. - No CL-9 compatibility (though they admitted they've been asked that more than once already). - No idea if Petrol will make a bag. - Will indeed record MP3s, not sure if it can "replace track" with LTC like the 552 does. Looks great, just wish they would have crammed it all in the same foot print of the current 552.
  20. Can you guys wire up lavs for the 3-pin lemos (Zaxcom/Sennheiser) that are giving everyone a hard time?
  21. Hey Jeff, sorry to hear about the troubles with Tapatalk, what a load of crap! I have no problem discontinuing it on my end. The mobile version of the site works just as well.
