Is there a reason for having the actor wear the shoe when it's being done? Looks like it'd be easier with the shoe off the foot?

Steady on. We're British!

Shoes off in public?. Whatever next?

Lol!

Seriously though, could it be the classical "oh I see you have a heavy sole there that makes a hell of a noise and you've already had costume and make up trying to pry that thing on you for half an hour..."

Thanks for that tip with cork and carpet tape. Will give that a try. Not terribly happy with the single cell foam options available. How's the residue on the shoes after the tape has "lived it's life"? And is there any sticky noises made has the adhesive wears off?

It is all about speed and if the actors are happy to have the shoes left on as a stencil happens then it is quicker, on this day there were about 15 background who all had to be done as wide lenses and steadicam was the order of the day, so mats and rugs were of little use, all old wooden floors 1920's style....

Michael as for the residue, we where possible use Gaffa tape on the soles first that way the mega sticky carpet tape does not trash the shoes and also when it comes to having to remove the rubber cork it comes off in a more intact manner.
