  1. I stopped by this evening on a lunch break as I was in the neighborhood on a shoot myself. Nico and his crew (Kevin and Jason) were chillin out on the street. Nice group of guys.
  2. Given that I go from a Fusion to a Nomad, I do nothing special - just make sure the mirroring is done and pull the card from one machine and put it in the next. No need for a roll change other than to help identify what machine you are working with.
  3. see - that part of the movie was maybe the icing on the cake to me ...yes, i'm sure an astronaut wouldn't normally wear that... I liked it. I saw it in IMAX 3D here at the lincoln square cinema. Great system but yes the sound did get overly loud a couple times. IMAX has previously hurt my eyes, but this one was great. I've always been a proponent of panning dialog. It often doesn't happen because of the BG in a production track - where here I guess there was nothing to prevent it - like mixing sound for animation. I liked the sound design too. It was an immersive experience to say the least. That said, I'm not sure it will hold up on a small screen the same way, so see it IMAX 3D or at least in a good theater if you can imho.
  4. Automix (I understand this is very new). Better/more advanced Zaxnet integration. Software control of output levels. I'm not expecting never clip to show up. That's a hardware thing. I had a small request that when listening to the monitor return that the word "MON" be displayed on the screen as once you start switching back and forth listening to the recorder and a camera return, you might loose track.
  5. I for one have been wanting to start a petition to encourage Zax to continue to develop the Deva/Fusion software. As a Nomad user, I have come to appreciate what this machine can do and grimace that these features are not available in the Deva. I would almost consider a Nomad 12 instead of a Fusion or Deva if I were purchasing a new recorder for a cart based rig. I have had some software suggestions for Zax over the years, and they have all been met with opposition. I have to believe this is largely because they don't want to touch the software. One other thing for example - regarding the fader expander for the Nomad: I approached Glenn with this very idea a few years ago but for the Fusion. Now that it's being developed for the Nomad it is my understanding that it won't work with the Deva/Fusion line. Why the hell not? This actually makes to sense to me at all... My biggest hope is that when/if Zax is building a new Deva to compete with the PIX 260 that Glenn takes time to listen to us users to hear how the software can be improved. Just my .02 from a Fusion/Nomad and now Maxx user.
  6. If you are running input compressors and some other things it can slow the machine down. I'm not too sure what card might be best...Someone on FB suggested saving your settings to a preset - then resorting factory defaults (make sure you then double check what folders and segment #s you are mirroring) and then mirroring. It should theoretically go as fast as possible. When done simply recall your saved settings and voila... The only thing faster is using Zaxconvert on your mail MARF card.
  7. Mike, Are you worried about pressure/bumps against the XLRs? Considering the "feet" haven't been released yet (*cough* *cough* Glenn?)
  8. RX is an amazing tool. I did cringe a little when going from RX2 advanced to RX3 advanced, but did it regardless. Used it for a quick cleanup job and was happy with the new dialog rx
  9. Tape that sucker down. A large piece of Moleskin usually works well.
  10. Not necessarily at the OP, but: If you can't trust one Nomad to keep in relative sync with another, how can you expect it to keep in sync with a TC slate?
  11. I'm with afewmoreyears. You must be doing something wrong or have a setting wrong if you can't jam one nomad to another every 6 hours.
  12. A cheap alternative is a used one. Probably your best bet for what you are looking to achieve.
  13. I once boomed for someone who had a counter weighted pole. I wasn't a fan. To the OP, If you really wanna make it easy (and not totally accurate) the find a way to rig a pole with some counterweights. See what you get.
  14. Max, I have noticed that the rx antennas are longer than the tx ones - as provided by zax. Not sure which document(s) you are looking at.
  15. yep - i've had problems with signal noise from a new 4063 wired by one of the usual suspects. same with an older 4063 (thicker wire)...so, don't know what to tell you except that I generally stick to cos-11s with zax transmitters...
  16. Brentoncov The audio you describe can not be fixed easily. Dicking around with a few plug ins by someone who had no idea how to manipulate them will only make it worse. Hire someone who can give you an honest evaluation of the audio or who can take an honest stab at cleaning it up. That alone is the "easy solve"
  17. I will look into this Larry, thanks! I do not remember who I spoke to
  18. Yes, in series. Nothing bridging hot to ground. There is a jumper from pin 2 to 4. Admittedly I just did this wiring last night and a quick listen test sounded good to me. Hopefully I didn't misunderstand what Vlad told me. I actually called Lectro customer service and was told I needed to contact DPA for the wiring - that you guys didn't have anything on file.
  19. I just required my DPAs (4061) as they were too hot for sm transmitters. Vlad from Pro Sound advised me: 3.32 kohm resistor on the hot and 1.5 kohm on the ground. The level seems just about right.
  20. Whit, Anything wrong with Energizer Lithiums? Just curious We will never have a rechargeable lithium AA that is around 1.5 volts. It's physics/chemistry. There are versions that are 3.5 volts or so in a AA form factor, but these are obviously too much for most any normal AA usage. Though this makes me wonder if a manufacturer could simply cut the battery size to a 1/3rd and fit it in a larger container...something like that.
  21. I was once told by a seasoned TV mixer: "if you give them a tasty mix, they'll use it..."
  22. Unless you know what you are doing, have them give the audio to a transfer house and have them prep the files.
