  1. Yes! RED for instance, has had a great history of corrupt files and cards due to the hardware and software not cooperating good enough, I thikn they've fixed that. Finished a shoot in mid august shot on RED with CF cards, no corrupt files whatsoever. Last summer we shot another film, same period, same camera, same handling, lots of corrupt files. I think the cameramen you're referring to are probably RED users and they've had problems with RED. Never had any probs with 744 or 788T on flash cards.
  2. Don't know how many Swedes (or other nationalities living/working in Sweden this date) watch this board but I might as well put an announcement here, if it's okay. Anmäl dig till Ljudinspelningsdagen take 2 här: http://www.filmsound.se/page2/seminarium.php ENGLISH: Once again it's time to grab your mike and come along on a collaborative SFX recording day! Last time was a huge success and the sounds are being used allover, so now we want to widen our archives. The theme this time around is SWEDISH VOICES! We meet at STDH (Old Dramatiska Institutet), have a coffee and then we make a list of all the sounds we want to grab. Then we'll go to Gärdet and record groups or single voices & screams and everything we need. After that we'll go to town and record other wanted sounds on our own. The material will then be uploaded to and FTP and be available for all participants. Fill this form out to participate: http://www.filmsound.se/page2/seminarium.php ---- So for instance if anyone of you are sitting in the studio scratching your head thinking "Geez I could really use some Swedish voices here" this is the perfect opportunity for you to say "Hey, make sure you get that" or whatever Cheers! And please move this if I'm in the wrong forum or if it's in any other way inappropriate...
  3. Add some LFE-ant to it! Pun intended but not sure if it comes through
  4. I see your dilemma. How wicked of Rycote not to bundle a softie with the product called "Softie Lyre Mount"... Anywho, That one looks more like a solid thing for camera use IMHO. I like that you can adjust the angle of it. BUT it doesn't rig on a hot shoe mount? Hm.. Dilemma indeed.
  5. There's a user on this forum called jlempen who lives and works in Switzerland as it seems. Check with him!
  6. Arcade Fire has inspired a lot of my mixing work as their music is often awesomely mixed. Lots of musical sound design and imagery in their songs. Fantastic band, and this record just grows bigger for every listen.
  7. Found this: Can't see exactly what they use, but maybe it'll give a good clue.. ...My god, the ending...
  8. Hi! Are you located in Sweden now? You could check with the sound professor in Stockholms Dramatiska Högskola, Klas Dykhoff, I think his students have been to Zurich and done something, dunno if they used wireless though... He might know or have some clue. Check out www.stdh.se I think his number's there somewhere. Lycka till!
  9. Another fun low budget trick that does the work is cardboard boxes. They fold, they are light so you can easily stack them .You can paint one side black and the other white and so on. Works ok
  10. Percussionist here! Never could play any good but, once a drummer...
  11. Oh yeah I see what you mean. The mini-input on the h4n disables the builtin mics right? I believe the six track recording on the roland is the two stereo mics together plus the inputs... Maybe it's the same as with h4n that plugging aomething into the minitele jack eliminates one pair of the builtin...
  12. You can use the built in mics simultaneously with the inputs on the H4n as well. Roland can record 6 tracks at once though... But can it double as an audio interface?
  13. Hi Neil! I've had this happen to me as well. My experience is you need to get in close with your source. It sound great when used closely but a bit farther away will crap out the sound entirely, in my experience anywho... It's a bit tricky that mic but it's a great one! It totally works for indoors, but for these situations you're describing I'd use a less narrow mic, like the ones you mention. I don't think there's anything wrong (but I could be wrong) with it, it's just it needs to come closer.
